$30b-plus billion Ichthys LNG project approved by Japan's Inpex

As rent in Darwin is already moving up in a big way , this will no doubt make things interesting. Wonder if Darwin will turn into a FIFO city during the construction stage?

Big project... Its not the only one though, which is the scary part.

You have Wheastone up in Onslow ($25 odd Bill, need a couple thousand people for construction), obviously Ichthys that will need the same up in Darwin. Shell are going to be starting to grow over here again, got the whole Prelude / Floating LNG thing going on pretty shortly. Woodside have a couple smaller developments on the horizon, Chevron are still mid way through Gorgon and dont seem to be letting up...

BHP are needing another couple thousand people over the next year or 2 (trying to double our Iron Ore production rate over the next 8 years... lots of growth). Im sure Rio arent too far behind, and then there are some of the smaller operators that are looking to grow.

Quite a few projects already kicking around off the coast there. Ichthys just happens to be a big one.
