Getting a large external hard disc to work with PS3's
Has anyone had an issues?
From a bit of research I gather I may have to change to Fat32 instead of NTFS.
I have tried to use Swissknife and Fat32format, but the install files seem to be questionable according to the virus scanner.
Has anyone else had this issue or am I on the wrong idea entirely?

I did one, piece of piss.
I think I may have posted on here about an extra, rarely documented step, if you are using an early PS3.
(not that I'd be seen dead using a PS3, I've got kids)

Yep you need to format it fat32. Windows format won't do it for large drives. It will make your drive 40gb or some Shit. Yeah i went thru it when i upgraded my ps3 from 40gb to 750gb... Big as you can go and must be 5400rpm drive. 7200rpm won't work. So yeah had a 500gb external i was't using so had to reformat that to fat32 using some program i downloaded so i could create the backup image for when i installed the 750 into the ps3. I done it to use play tv more.. But it kept stopping recording and starting a new file every few seconds. So i just scored that beyonwiz dvr PrestigeCBR was selling and works a treat.
Edit sorry.. Clarify... Its the internal ps3 hard drive that must be max 750gb and 5400rpm.... Cos no tB drive is under 7200rpm which doesn't work in ps3. External drive spec shouldn't matter... Just gotta figure out how to format it fat32.
