The Great Australian Ride East to West
I spent last night at the Billabong Hotel/Motel supping a few coldies with Grey Nomads and a couple of anglers.
Fairly standard weeknight in a country hostelry.
Three bikers walk in so I thought beauty, at least I can have a chat about bikes rather than "we might head to.." or "Maaate this Spanish Mackerel.."
Anyway we'll call these guys Stuart, Christian and Joshua and they are on this ride from Byron Bay to Steep Point, ie, the most easterly and western points of Australia.
A gruelling (they looked a bit gruelled) 20 day ride cross the Simpson and Gibson deserts.
The purpose is raising funds and awareness for SIDS and support for grieving families.
Stuart is the founder and did it solo last year, this year he had a few co riders and from what he told me last night, it has been sensational.
Check out The Great Australian Ride
It will be updated when the guys have recovered>
Stuart will be in Perth on thursday so I will catch up with him then.
Don't be surprised if he joins PSB shortly, he didn't know of us but was suitably impressed.
