    gsxr750 v R6

I currently ride A Gixxer750 K4 model which I always thought of as a fast bike, but recently I had a run with a 2007 Yammy R6 and was VERY surprised that it keep up with me on a long drag race all the thru to the top of 5th gear... the R6 was less than 5 bike lenghts behind after several kms of high speed action WTF
Are the new breed of 600,s really that FAST or is the gixxer lacking power???

THE actions above were posed by proffesional riders on a closed private test track

The modern 600s are pretty quick, i think vs your bike there's perhaps 15hp or so in it? The 600 also has shorter gearing.

You'd probably start pulling away up above 180-200 though.

I don't have much trouble keeping up with bigger bikes on my 600rr, so long as i'm in the correct gear at street speeds.

The 07 R6 has been made to run a 9.98 1/4 in the US with only gearing and lowering.... and a fucking good rider. Ridden well, they're by no means slow.

Ummm I was doing much faster than 180-200 as I was top of 5th gear redline.. obviously the R6 is good on top speed too

If you're talking just straight line then the R6 should keep up to about 220ish. Most 600s can keep up with a thou to about 150. It's also rider, more than anything. if it's cornering... well. Thats a new game all together.

also keep in mind the weight difference of the bikes. the 04 gixxer is going to be close to 10kg more than the R6. and then possible weight difference of the riders?

LOL - I once used this excuse (after getting blown away by a GSXR1100 LE on my GPZ1000RX) on my first missus. She wouldn't let me replace the bike, but agreed to let me "tidy" it up. End result was way more expensive than buying a new bike, but way more fun too.

The story I spun my missus was that "the 600's are way too zippy. Just road registered track bikes. This R1 has a lot more road manners so will be alot safer."

I just changed the gearing on my k5 750 and i dont think it would be the same story any more. Down to a 16 tooth on the front and it pulls so hard now. Having trouble keeping the front wheel down in more gears now. Pretty cheap and good mod if you want it to pull out of corners well.

I've been at the drags against newish r6's before and there's been a few times that they have had a little better launch and i've reeled them in from half-track onwards. Mine's a k6 750 though, dunno if there's much difference.
