Help with assignment re: Cinema Spending Habits
Hey everyone I just have an assignment to do and I figured I would use the numbers on PSB to put a quick little survey/poll/suggestion/ideas tank together.
It is related to going to the movies and your spending habits/freqency.
What I am looking at is:
How Often you would go to the movies/cinema?
How many people? (example: Couple/Family/Single Ticket(either go by yourself or with friends)
What you would general buy? (Popcorn/Drinks/Lollies/Ice cream etc etc)
What you think of the value of these extras.
Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside?
any opinions would be great long as they are relatively on-topic.
i.e The price of the stuff in the candy bar is crap and I would rather go to (whatever shop) buy it there and take it in the movies. (thats good)
but no, The movies are shit I just watch DVDs (thats bad)
If i can figure out how to do this poll stuff I will put it in some options.
Thanks for you time!
edit: well that sucked I can't add in more than one poll
admins help? :p

How Often you would go to the movies/cinema? 2 times a month
How many people? (example: Couple/Family/Single Ticket(either go by yourself or with friends) friends
What you would general buy? (Popcorn/Drinks/Lollies/Ice cream etc etc)drink and choclate $10=>
What you think of the value of these extras. expensive but expected
Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside? sometimes.
Nothing beats the movies for a big screen experience. I'll go see the movies I really want to see there but other films can wait tv release.
maybe for your poll ask if people have a large or hi def screen at home? (yes)

Cam and I might go to the cinema one or two times a month maybe, usually just to see the 'big ones'.
We go as a couple usually.
Candy bar usuals are a couple of drinks and maybe a bag of chocolates (maltesers, M&M's)
The price of the candy bar items is a bit steep, but I know that in a lot of cases this is the best way for a cinema to make it's money, as the film companies noramlly take a large portion of the ticket sales.
I'm happy to spend the money when it's a movie I really want to see on the big screen, even though I think ticket prices are getting a bit ridiculous these days.

I would go at most once a month.
Usually just with one other person, very occasionally a group of us will go.
I generally don't buy anything but have on occasion bought either popcorn or m&ms.
The cost is steep enough that I generally remember why the things aren't all that good for you in the first place and manage to take the "healthier" option of not needing chocolate or popcorn while I'm watching a movie.
Sometimes I will smuggle stuff in from outside but generally I can't be arsed.
All the best with your assignment!

1. ~5 times a year
2. Mainly with a group of friends
3. Popcorn
4. I refuse to spend my money on it. Once the lights go out the thieving begins
5. Prefer to smuggle in stuff

How Often you would go to the movies/cinema? Twice a week - sometimes seeing two films in a row. A cinema chain here has a monthly movie pass ie: you pay ~$30aud/month each to see as many films as you want. You just need to put up with a shitload of advertising before the movie starts but that's ok.
How many people? Sometimes two, sometimes four (all adults)
What you would general buy? (Popcorn/Drinks/Lollies/Ice cream etc etc) Sometimes popcorn and a small coke.
What you think of the value of these extras. Extortionate.
Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside? Bring in from outside. I know you're not supposed to, but are they going to stop me taking my backpack into the cinema?
The cinemas are probably like petrol stations - the profits are with the up-selling. $7 for popcorn, which you can make yourself in the microwave for $1.50? And $5 for a bucket full of Coke pre-mix? It doesn't even come on a silver tray!

I go a little more than once a month.
sometimes by myself, sometimes with my 18 Y/O son, mostly with my GF.
I used to go Premier class only but there's not a great deal of value in it and the food they serve you is not only expensive, but it's mostly deep fried shit, so I stopped.
I always buy a bottle of water from the kiosk, sometimes popcorn or a choc top for the little lady.
The kiosk pricing is rediculous
I don't take anything in from outside

How Often you would go to the movies/cinema?
Varies - I'll go weekly until I run out of things to watch. Then stop going for a couple of weeks. Probably averages out to about 3 times a month.
How many people? (example: Couple/Family/Single Ticket(either go by yourself or with friends)
Usually go with one or two friends.
What you would general buy? (Popcorn/Drinks/Lollies/Ice cream etc etc)
Frozen Coke. Without fail. Occasionally icecream, but nothing else.
What you think of the value of these extras.
Value? None. Stupidly expensive.
Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside?
Usually Candy Bar because I'm getting Frozen Coke anyway, and I usually ride.
I have a decent HD TV at home - But I like the cinema experience.
I also never pay full price. I have vouchers for Grand or I go to Tightarse Tuesday. Greater Union I get $10 tickets due to being a member of a parent/sister company.

Not often - as too expensive, uncomfortable and often get current movies on dvd.
As a romantic couple - pfft. And usually get a large combo of popcorn & drink to share. There is no value as they don't even put up full list of prices - they want to make you fat and poor.

Thanks for the input so far guys more would be appreciated :p
For those who have answered already and that read this,
If there was an alternative to the candy bar close by which offered similar products for a cheaper price would it of be of interest? close being on the way to the cinemas like doorway to ticket cashier :p
I guess a small kiosk or shop which had, lollies, some drinks, ice creams, hot drinks (coffee/hot chocolate etc) would that be of an appeal to buy from there instead of candy bar or bring from home?
I am more or less thinking of the convenience and value for money, instead of having to go to the shops or servo before hand and being cheaper than the candy bar.

Why would any cinema allow such a business to take place?
If they were part of a large shopping complex, the center manager would need to be strung up for that kind of placement, if they own the building they're not going to allow anybody else to set up shop there.
You pay extra for the convenience. If you want cheap candy, you call into the supermarket on the way.
