Jobs that won't be around in 20 years.

I was thinking about this the other day. Which jobs are gonna be either completely eliminated or replaced by computers/machines? Another option would be that positions available become extremely limited because the jobs of many could be done by a few.

    Dump truck driver
Consumer electronics salesperson (iPods, TVs etc.)
    Train driver

I'm doing an electrical apprenticeship. I hope as the world becomes more electricity dependant that there's a need for electricians.

I work for local government and right now i see way too many people in middle management and up, fighting to justify their existence daily. Too many people doing a job that one or two could do easily.

I think that eventually jobs wont dissapear as such but positions like these wont exist and it will go back to being the old handfull of managers high amount of grunts pyramid.

My job won't be around in 20 years time.

I'm a cytogeneticist, which is a specific branch of genetics that looks at chromosomes, the macro composition of DNA. Advances in technology mean that we are finding more effective ways of studying DNA structure and composition, so I'll have to stop looking down a microscope and start looking at computer screens (boring!).

Missile silo operators and air force pilots.
They will be replaced by a self thinking super computer.

    School teachers.

In case I need to explain that; When I born it wasn't normal to have a computer, one kid in our street had a video game console by the time we were 10. We finally got a computer and since then more and more of my information has come from digital media, almost every child has some for of digital game and the population is trending towards complete digital integration. Our mobile phones can do more and more, I can watch television and then phone my friend to tell them about the game all on the phone... and the most advanced piece of technology I used to have in my pocket was a DigiMon.

I think twenty years from now will see a technological jump to organic computers and implantation. Children won't need to go to school, every morning the implant could run the connection program, override the sensory inputs to the brain and the child will suddenly be sitting in the class room while Teacher -Year 1 - Day 181 runs the lesson designated for that day... all while never getting out of bed, wifi connected to a main computer feeding the information straight to the brain for interpretation.

There will be a lot of online porn deaths, people plug in to the online brothel and with their real world sensory inputs overridden, they'll spend their whole time banging the virtual girlfriends. I can't tell if it sounds more like The 6th Day, or Total Recall. Perhaps I should write it into a new movie.

Yep IT wont be around for much longer. With cloud computing becoming more popular, it seems the need for onsite IT Technicians to be present will fade over time. Network / Systems Engineers will still be around for some time. Next big thing is being an App developer for iOS or Android if you want to stay in a technology based field.

Since pilots make the decisions regarding the future of air-forces, this will never happen.
