You do need to keep her ears hair free. Moisture will build up, causing a build up of bacteria thus causing an ear infection. Very common in fluffy dogs! Most short-haired dogs don't have a whole lot of hair in their ears though. From knowledge vinegar will irritate the ears as it dries it out quite a bit. Unfortunately some dogs just have ongoing ear problems that you can never fully get rid of, and have t manage it with regular cleaning. And you can stick your finger right down when you are doing it because of the shape of the ear canal. Just make sure you use cotton wool or swabs, if you are going to use cottons buds do NOT stick them down her ear, you could possibly puncture the ear drum! So it seems you're doing the right thing! Most of the time we do a culture to test exactly what bacteria is causing the infection so that we can properly manage it with the right antibiotic. Anyway, hope her ears get better!

Otoderm is the stuff I think I used on my dog.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Swan Veterinary Hospital! They are by far one of the best clinic's I've dealt with, stupidly cheap and always very caring and attentive. Well worth the extra drive, can't recommend them highly enough!

Malaga vets, make the trip, well worth it.
Another one for Dr Tina @ Malaga vet.

Slightly OT
we have a dog from ACA pups- it has epilepsy. [The Vet in Cambridge St Wembley [Cameron] is great ]
However, ACA pups had ZERO interest in the fact the dog's got epilepsy, the puppy farm will keep churning them out, from the same parents, regardless of genetic deficiency and charging a shit load for what is basically a mongrel breed [Spoodle].
This is Charlie Messy is good
I took our geriatric boxer into Mt Lawley vets to be put down because she had started having seizures, but the vet suggested I try phenobarbital. The initial dosage of 50mg twice a day was too high and the dog was staggering around like she was pissed and sometimes couldn't even get up. We gradually cut back to 25mg twice a day and she is looking really good. As good as a 14 year old boxer can anyway.

I know this is a little old, but just found the thread. Dogs typically get more yeast infections and gunky ears during hayfever season, it's just a symptom. Try Malaseb Medicated Pet Shampoo (Vet Products Direct Australia - Malaseb Shampoo 250ml). Dilute about 30 to 1 in water, put into a clean spray bottle. Tip dogs head on the side and fill the ear canal. Rub under ear opening for a few seconds and let the dog shake the excess out. Repeat. Do this twice a day for 3 days, then wait a couple of days to see if you need to do another 3 days on. It will degunk ears and clear up mild infections very quickly. Also good for scratches, dermatitis (staffies anyone?), and works well on humans as well.
