    Unfortunately thats the way it's heading if you want to keep costs down/close racing... even F1 are having to go the cost cutting route of banning innovation/technology all the time. Other lesser open wheel classes only have 2-3 different chassis and many have control engines and/or tyres.

    The closest thing to what the V8SC haters want seems to be the FIA GT/Sports car racing. It is a joke as there are that many different cars/classes/different rules with cars all doing totally different lap times. Other than getting to see awesome supercars thrashed around it has very little real entertainment value and basically no dicing whatsover. The endurance races are like watching paint dry as most of the cars are parading around well below their peak lap speed to go the distance... so it's not even decent 'on the ragged edge' racing. The only excitement comes from watching the fast cars dodging the slow ones and the order changing at pit stops.

    At the end of the day KR's 'Working families' seem to want to see some close racing and aren't so worried about the mechanical links to the road cars, or technology, as long as they appear similar in some way. They are the ones who turn up at the events, watch on TV and buy the products that the sponsors are pushing... majority wins. It is V8SC's job to improve the show, encourage more sponsors/manufacturers to make it grow and milk it for all its worth. Which is what they are trying to do.

    Pandering to the minority who reminisce about the mighty R32 GTR and know that their EVO/WRX could thrash the V8's running only front wheel drive, without the turbo, on 2 cylinders, etc if only given the opportunity to do so isn't going to achieve the desired result.

    Want to see Mercs and Lambos have it out, why not check out the Australian GT Cup series? Lots of different cars all doing different lap times and very little door to door racing. How excitement

    I find it almost sad that people mention they like to see close racing yet theres no mention of speedway. The real grass roots forms of racing seem to be falling further and further by the wayside.
    A cynic is a man who, when he smells flowers, looks around for a coffin.

    Dear god, it's some weird bastardized three wheeled two person go-kart.

    @resist

    Mate I do watch the v8 and used to regularly do bathurst and Oran park.

    I think the formula had only one flaw and that's the motor. I know why they went with the 5ltr formula but it breaks the link with porduction cars IMHO. People don't really care that the gearbox is a sequencial holinger.

    Even so, keep the 5ltr limit and force the other makes to come up with a donk of their own. Set a minimum races per block to prevent one-race specials.

    In the end I want to see the same type of close racing that we currently have but with more makes involved.

    Sadly the days of racing pushing inovation in production design are over.

    I would like to add something, earlier in this thread I said the only real drama from a racing point of view is the tyre. I was wrong, Tim Schenken, V8 Supercar race director, is a fucking moron. That is the biggest thing wrong with V8 Supercars. If they don't sack him this year they should change the title to V8 Superfarce.
