    Motorcyclist sets Albany on fire.

The fire started when a motorcyclist crashed his bike on Sandpatch road at 10:00am (AWST). He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

oh shit..i was down there today....saw the smoke starting to billow as we were leaving town after our3 day stint at the Ullyses AGM...heard sirens and commented jokingly to one of our crew that i hope it wasnt a biker(i thought it was a ambo)....

hope the rider is ok..we watched about 3000 bikes take part in the parade thru
the main streets..peeps attended from all over Australia..

A friend spent the day moving her horses off her property. She said it was fracken scary. I didn't know it started from a bike. Retired shop owner on a virago I'm sure.

On a more serious note, my fingers are crossed that no one is injured or worse from this.

    Sparky knee sliders?
We did have this issue at RAC one day remember Sam?!?!

On a serious note I hope this is contained very soon before too much damage is done. I'd hate to see a repeat of the Toodjay devastation

My father in law lives in the evac area, he was in hospital for an operation fri & sat so he is safe. The bro in law has been out there today and the old blokes house is OK, it rained last night and it has been contained.

I am wondering whether it was the track to Sand Patch itself (I stacked a chook chaser there last year) or the bitumen road that goes to the wind farm. Anyone know?

Just happened to be out there, (Frenchmans Bay) the fire was the true sense of awesome..scary and beautiful..seeing the hills ablaze with 12metre high fire. Just unbelievable but awful..saw some young girls walking horses out.

I was squidding and thinking oh shit...choking through the smoke, ash raining down on my bare arms..for a short stint couldn't see more than maybe 30 metres ahead.

The police had blocked anymore entry into Frenchman's Bay when we headed out and was blocking other traffic to allow all of us getting the hell out.

It was so good to see it getting drizzly in Albany last night and was quite happy to ride home in the rain this morning knowing what it would mean.

I believe it's pretty well under control now and no homes were damaged.
I believe 200 acres were burned by last night.

    I remember that day.

Glad the rains came and spared any serious grief.
