    [ ] increased safety
    [ ] noise reduction

There was no opportunity to dissent, the government hailed the result as overwhelming support and introduced the lower limits.
just after reading this i got an email from the RAC (even though i have never been a member of the RAC and have unsubscribed 4 or 5 times) with a survey. "Should our speed limits be lowered?"

How about raise all speed limits by 10km/h, then by definition there will be less speeders.

It's been well proven that left to their own devices, most motorists use their judgement to set their road speed. You get trouble when you get people conditioned to do whatever speed that is inside the red circle beside the road. So people will do 110km/h on open highways, no matter the conditions.

On the new Bunbury Hwy traffic would happily do 130-140km/h in complete safety.

How would you class yourself as a driver? (You may choose more than one)

I never break the speed limit when I am driving
I sometimes inadvertently break the speed limit but only by a small amount
I often knowingly drive over the speed limit by 5km/h (approximately)
I often knowingly drive over the speed limit by 10km/h (approximately)
I often knowingly drive over the speed limit by more the 10km/h.
I find it hard to stick to the speed limit especially on roads with lower limits and sometimes find myself speeding without knowing

Have you been caught speeding in the past 12 months?

    Yes
    No

If you do speed what zones are you more likely to speed in?

A pedestrian or school zone where the limit is 30km/h or 40km/h respectively
On a residential street where the speed limit is 50km/h
On streets where the speed limit is 60 or 70km/h
    On a highway or freeway
I never go over the speed limit in any zone

How often do you see other motorists speeding on WA roads?

Do you think speeding is more prominent in: (You may choose more than one)
A pedestrian or school zone where the limit is 30km/h or 40km/h respectively
On a residential street where the speed limit is 50km/h
On a street where the speed limit is 60 or 70km/h
    On a highway or freeway

What measures do you think will help reduce the number of speeding motorists on our roads?

    More speed cameras
A higher police presence on our roads
Better education of motorists about the potential affects of speeding
A blanket reduction in speed limits (lower limits by 10km/h on all roads)
Reduce limits on roads that have a history of speeding offences or crashes
Traffic calming measures where roads are designed so traffic speed is reduced
    An increase in penalties
Electronic roadside displays which show drivers their speed as they approach

Would you support the use of an in-car device that limits the speed of your vehicle to the prevailing limit wherever you drive?

    Yes
    No

Do you believe speed cameras are:

An important method of enforcing speed limits and reducing the amount of speeding motorists
A measure to raise revenue for the Government
    Both of the above

Do you think all revenue raised from speed cameras should be spent on measures to improve road safety?

    Yes
    No

    yeah I cant believe the question;

What measures do you think will help reduce the number of speeding motorists on our roads?
And they have an option - A blanket reduction in speed limits (lower limits by 10km/h on all roads)

Makes me want to bitch slap them

Maybe a kid from Northam already stole the Freddo before it was even packed. These little thieves are getting much smarter.

I elect a governemnt to manage my state/country.

I am not their chattel, my posessions are not theirs.

What's even worse is both sides on politics admit this is a stunt to try and swing grey voters, it has nothing at all to do with road safety.

Are you happy being treated as a slave by a politician who is trying to get re-elected?
