Morning All,
Just wondering if anyone knows of any parking (either cheap of free) for Notre Dame uni students? Or is it just pay by the hour either on the St or at the massive Wilson car park?

car, bike or horse drawn cart?
last i checked (which admittedly was a couple years ago), bikes could park in car bays in City of Freo car parks and the street - you just have to buy a ticket if a car would have to. For actual bike bays, there are heaps in freo and heaps in the west end around the uni, so just cruise around until you find one. I have no probs parking a bike in freo on the street during the day. Especially around uni where there are lots of people around all the time.

Oh yeah probably should have mentioned that. Car parking. I know bikes are free so that won't be an issue (except for the whole 'gear' problem).
There is some free parking at the mole. But only for 3 hrs. AND the rangers are always patrolling, chalking tyres. hope that helps! but dont go telling to many ppl this or my spot will get stolen![]()
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it!
The best you'll get as a far as student discounts go is early bird rates in collie st which is 6 bucks for the day. Otherwise it's just giant sized pineapples from the city of freo.
well this is going to make driving to uni rather tricky & expensive

where are you coming from? train not an option?

Yeah I guess train is an option.
Coming from Cottesloe

oh that's super easy then man. parking a car in freo is a bloody pain in the arse. the train will save you all the hassle. they come every 15 mins. plus, getting the train means you can go for beers at the Orient with your fellow frat boys after class.

Yeah looking like that is the way to go. Especially with train ticket being so much cheaper than Fuel + Parking
all of the parking along the train line is free on Marine Terrace once you get a certain distance away from the centre of freo (I think it becomes free just after the Mews Road Entrance that gets you through to little creatures)
I used to park there all the time for the jobs I had in freo, probably a 10-12 minutes walk to Notre Dame.
Need to get there early though. Half of Freo hospital parks there.
you don't REALLY, it just means you'll be parking down by Freo Sailing Club and its a 30 minute walk instead of 10 minutes. aha
I fondly remember my days of rorting the Pelican Point 3 hour parking next to UWA, ducking out between classes to rub chalk marks off my tyres and switch bays with friends. That is your other option - Suffolk street and all the ones that run parallel to it are a pretty good spot if you're only in for a couple of hours.
I used to get there at 8:10 for 8:30 classes and there was NOTHING available in the free area on marine terrace.
was at notre dame, bike parking is free on moat st (middle of the uni) and anywhere else near the uni and it's free all day, car parking is a prick, the multi-story on collie st is cheap for students provided you get there early, otherwise its $6.50 at the train station & italian club all day or you can park where everyone tries to along the rail way line, but i have seen windows smashed there, if the option to ride is available its much more convenient, otherwise realistically you've gotta pay.
gear isn't to bad, its ATGATT or squid with just a helmet and strap it to your bike or just carry that.
