Red is usually popular when it comes intp sight, this red bass gave me a moment when first glimpse had me calling red emperor--out of improbably shallow water. still a beautiful fish, went back down on the end of a big release weight.
but another kind of red was kept for tea
The country up there can hold some hidden delights. There are a couple of wells with good fresh water on a flat between the dunes--the last place you might expect to get good water, just a classic sand soak. It was only 30 cm below the surface, all you needed was a small 12 v pump, which doubled as the shower pump to get it out. Fresh water showers--bloody luxury.
We are pumping from one, the other is in the foreground. The recent very heavy rain had charged them up, although they apparently were still ok through the drought they had just been through.
The heavy rain also meant Yardie Creek was open the the ocean, meaning a saltwater bath if you needed to cross on any thing other than a very low tide.

My mum always used to say, when life hands you lemons "kill mob within spell duration with a soul gem of adequate quality for the mob's level to trap its soul"

A couple from my NZ trip that were put together with a program called Hugin, one of the best panoramic creators that I've used.

Yardie Creek was tackled at sunrise, hoping for the lowest tide. Unfortunately, it was on the neaps, so, not a lot of movement either way. was below the knee in the deepest spot.
More fish, and more. Some big Long-nose Emperor were about. Pull like a train.
And the mackerel were not getting any smaller
It's always worth getting back in time for a sundowner on the beach, although I usually seem to be cleaning a fish when it happens. Beautiful spot.

I picked up the book "Inspiring Professionals: a landscape photographers guide to filters" last week if you have an interest in landscapes it is a very good read 135 pages of photos and they give you diagrams showing the position of the filters in the shot as well as giving a general guide to what each type of filter does and when they are useful. Granted it is produced by Lee filters so it can read as promo guide at times but i found it fascinating.

Anyone interested in Industial abandoned building style photography, I just stumbled across this:

We descended through thousands of feet of heavy overcast coming into West Angeles, and, when we cleared , the sun was just touching the tops of the hills. Vivid colour, sharpness spoilt by the rather imperfect plane window.
