That first one would look good cropped, just the lightning.
Also, maybe people could post up some of the settings used, as well as the pic, so that we (me) noobs could suss it out.

I know it's a bit late, but for this sort of stuff you can try multiple short exposures to preserve detail, and then use an image stacker on them. The rings should become apparent while keeping the moon distinct.Decisions make my head hurt.
LAst night there was an awesome corona around the moon. It was the biggest one I have ever seen, It took up a fair chunk of the sky, in the end it was a 30 second exposure, 3.0fstop and 100iso.
It was the best I could get if anyone knows any better ways to make that sort of thing work let me know. The issue is obviously that the light off the moon over exposes it, but a long exposure was needed before the rings could be seen.
