"Once we suffered from crimes; now we suffer from laws"

Without worrying too much about the particular case to which he's referring, I think this is a good summary of what could (and has) gone wrong with some of the legislative processes in this state and this country.

"The State must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf

    Maybe the idea that
A woman must be modest and pure
is the false conciousness and we should argue that these women who believe in attempting to remove our rights in order to enact these principled laws are the brainwashed ones and we need to save them?

After all it was those with similar views about womens modesty that believed in the form of false conciousness that once stopped women having a career?

Yep, I'm very surprised that any woman could consider telling another woman what they should do with their body and their life - but that wasn't the point I was trying to make. I think the principles he's outlined are valid in a wide range of areas, but it may not be the best example, on reflection.

In law, if one is going to engage in principled reasoning, it is generally unwise to recruit means-end reasoning, and vice-versa. Thinkers who blur the two almost inevitably come unstuck. This is because the means-end thinker (typically an empiricist) is looking at outcomes, while the principled thinker is looking at what is right, which is of necessity logically prior, and focusses on intent.
is that jurisprudence? then ive learnt a new word

It is the fault of the microwave oven. That evil device is responsible for wimmin having enough time to get out of the kitchen.

I blame the tampon, its enabled these wimmin to ride horses, swim, take part in sport, I mean, bugger me, there is even some with wings so they can fly, (think of the broom stick manufacturing sector) another industry destroyed by tampons, just were is this world going. The tampon manufacturers have reduced time in the kitchen by giving them choice. This is an outrage and something should be done about it. If ever this comes up on Perth Now, I will post in the comments section about this outrage.
