Yes it was a piston and if you look it took hit hand off not hit him in the chest.

You can see his hand with glove in it on the ground in front of the bike.

    BTW Reposta

it hit his hand, and looks like it severed it..... the glove (with hand in it?) lands in front of the bike

    lol...

It's Brock Davidson, not a piston but the spark plug. Just took his glove off.

Do you realise the amount of metal a piston would have to go through to leave an engine?

more video, struggling to find the original story on it..

    little bit here

DRAGBIKE.COM, Headlining News From The Motorcycle Drag Racing World

As I mentioned earlier, gaining a major factory sponsorship from Suzuki is no doubt my highlight thus far. The low point was when I experienced my second nitrous backfire of the season in Atco. My program went from jubilation and excitement (because I had figured out a majority of the challenges that I have been presented with thus far) and in one single pass it all went away because of a slight mechanical problem.

It caught me completely off guard, and was the closest to death I have ever been drag racing. Thus far, nothing but my feet had ever touched the drag strip surface… and in 1999 my rear end touched down twice [in starting line mishaps]. The Atco explosion was so severe, that the concussion of the blast knocked me out for a few moments, and it frightened me!

Looks like it came from the grassy knoll

In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Never understood why you would go out and buy a lottery ticket after you have had a piece of good luck and not before.
    I'm afraid i just don't get it.

    +1
People saying this has always stumped me too.
If you believe in luck and something like that happens, wouldn't it use up all your luck?
So you'd actually want to wait a long time before buying another lotto ticket.

And this is why I think the top fuel bike guys are crazy.

I've seen enough top fuel rail engines blow up to know that the possibility is there, that the plugs/cylinder head, etc is directly beneath your torso/head/between your legs.

Respect for getting back on the bike after that one....
    stuff
