Or you could just ask them and say you forgot, isn't that what human beings did before we had computers?
The computing department at Curtin are so backward. They have disabled javascript and removed the MP3 codecs to try and make people do work in the linux labs, but all that achieves is to make every nerd who sits down here spend hours trying to figure out how to get around the stupid restrictions![]()
Curtin is backward in general, how shit is the I drive?

A woodchuck should chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood, as long as a woodchuck would chuck wood.

and come to about week 9/10 when everyone is trying to do their main assignments which by requirement "HAVE" to be stored on your H:/ drive, slows the whole fuckin system to a crawl. *insert last semester contemplating how angry the Uni would get if I smashed a monitor*...

Works well... our stupid office decided people were downloading too much crap so decided to force all traffic via an ISA server so they can monitor things at the same time blocking gmail, facebook and a few other sites.
Workaround was a port 8080 tunnel via ssh to my VPS on which I setup a basic proxy server, I then created a custom proxy .pac file to force the sites they had blocked in addition to high usages sites (such as PSvia the proxy, all other harmless traffic just goes via the ISA server.
Fixed all the other shite they broke buy forcing the traffic via the proxy such as connectivity to customer sites, works seamlessly.
It also showed me how useful network "locations" are in OSX, I can just flick between "Home" and "Work" with no need to update settings every time.
Could they not just deny 8080 to everywhere but your restrictive nazi-ish proxy server? Seems kinda pointless if they let 8080 out to the internet..

127.0.0.1:8080 --> (ssh --> remoteServer:22) -->> 127.0.0.1:8888
oic
so they let port 22 out so you can ssh to your clients networks etc?

Yep.
Thats how stupid it is... no redirect or transparently proxy.. just a big fat access list with a null route.
