Welcome. apparently we (by this I mean occidental, european descended white australians) are called monkeys by several asian races because of the round shape of our eyes and our funny hair colour.

I don't like racism, and will nip it in the bud at my workplace. So I was taken aback when I had to apologise for using the phrase "you poor little vegemite" to a temp at work who had the flu. It didn't occur to me that they had dark skin at the time, what did occur to me was the thought "hey, why am I being polite to this person who is deliberately infecting all of us with his skanky flu virus?"

So now if someone complains about being sick, I just say something like "go home, fuckwit, I don't care whether you get paid sick leave or not".

At least that's not racist.

Andrew Symonds is part West Indian, if you've spent time in Asia you may have come across an attitude where the locals look down on those of African origin as if they are somehow inferior. I don't understand it, maybe it has something to do with colonial times and white people bitching to the Indians about slaves, all the same it's a bit sour to bring it into a game when a few bad decisions go against them then have the nerve to call our team bad sports because we didn't call their batsmen back.

When Jawid first came to Australia, he got called a curry muncher at school.

Being completely foreign to this slur, and completely foreign to sarcasm, he would reply "............and.........?". The kids gave up after awhile.

I think Symonds is being called "monkey" NOW because they know it's a trigger point, rather than it just being a racial slur.

Lesson learnt here, be a racist as society see's you . Im not a racist, but things ill say would "label" me a racist, and for that i dont give rats arse about.

If the call of being racist is made by someone else, then it's purely of the context between their ears. If they are the one's taking it personally, they are the problem in my opinion.
