Thumbs up Random Cage driver of WA - I salute you

On my way into Joondalup mid afternoon and stopped at the lights, me in outside lane. heading towards hospital. baldy man in a spew green metallic Camry pulled up next to me and says "hey mate, watch yourself theres the fuzz with a hairdrier just over the rise in the 50 zone"

sure enough there she was hairdrier in hand

i waved enthusiastically. she looked back at me like she walked in on me rooting her cat.

Random Cage Driver, I salute you

I always point out the photo opportunities to those behind, but i never had the favour returned, anyone else had this happen, or did the heat just get to this guy???
I cant help it if my reality doesnt match your perceptions

I've noticed that it is far less common in WA for people to flash their high beams to warn oncoming motorists of a speed camera or police. Perhaps it is because the cameras here are better hidden and it's less likely for people to spot one.

I tip my hat to those that do though.

Geez, you would feel pretty hard done by.

I'm told you can be charged with "failure to dip headlights" or something. Seems quite unlikely that you would get busted though.

It happened a few years ago to a woman who flashed her lights to warn traffic. The police told her she was getting a fine for using her high beam within 200m of an oncoming vehicle. she complained and said she turned her low beam on and off, they told her the alternative was obstructing police business.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon! Press the brake foot as you roll around the corners, and save the collapse and tie up.

Was approaching a booze bus location, on the bike, with an unmarked car in front of me...at spring in the valley a couple of years ago. An oncoming car flashed his lights and the unmarked car put on his lights and pulled the guy over. Not sure what came of it but I'm sure some sort of pineapple was the result.

I am yet to see anyone in Perth flash their lights for a copper.

In NSW, you'd often get 10 or more cars warn you before you reached him.

    I flash.

    'normally' have the favor returned.

I would fight the 'obstructing police' charge tooth and nail. If They are there to slow motorists down, I have succeeded in doing so, and for a longer period of time.
    I deserve a freakin' medal!

Had a cop car flash me on the great eastern near Northam, so I slowed down, then see the camera.
    My lucky day.

The whole 'light flashing' thing is strange...

Example of SA Police vs WA Police

SA Police "We encourage people to flash their lights, if it slows a driver down then that's a good thing and we encourage it"

WA Police "It is a criminal offence to flash your headlights at oncoming traffic"

My brother, after flashing oncoming traffic, copped a court appearance and a fine about 10 years ago for "perverting the course of justice".

But I still flash or tap.
I used to have a nice sig offering to shadow ppl. Now I have no sig...

I heard the WA police commissioner (ie the top one) on the radio last year he also said that motorists flashing oncoming vehicles is a good thing as it slows them down which is the point of the exercise. Not sure that warning motorists about a booze bus is the same thing...

Also having said that if anyone is to blame for the dire attitudes and behaviour of the road police and the resulting relationship between the police and the population its him.

I though it was only an issue if you admit that your intentions was to warn other drivers of cops. If you claim your unaware it happen, and better if your in a car joy registered to you (so you can use the European line that has already been suggested)

I've always flashed and tapped. My bike had one constant headlight and the other for highbeam, seems o get me good results when I flash.
I'm yet to have a car flash to warm me when I'm on one of the bikes.
When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead. True story.

I live in singleton NSW and travel out to work near Musswelbrook where the traffic cops frequant between the hours of 4 am/pm and 8 am/pm. There is bulk traffic along these roads at this time. Everyone usually flashes. I copped 1 demerit and $150 fine when an unmarked 2 deep in traffic turned around and followed. I dont flash anymore

+1 always flash - I have been saved enough times by others that I will wear the fine if it happens - I am still in front money wise...

QLD: I flash, get on the 2-way, wave, get the testicles out, everything.

    Most people do the same.

I noticed on the trip over to Perth and Back at xmas that in WA no one does it in comparison to the rest of the country I drove through. It's annoying when people are so zealous about it they flash 50kms up the road from one, and you drive for fucking ages, on the speedlimit or below, before you spot it.
