    IT Resume help

    hey peeps,

just wondering if anyone had any advice on creating a resume to suit someone in a network engineering position.

Would anyone have any examples, of course remove any personal details.

Im basicly trying to make note of all my skills etc, but not make it look like a shopping list if you know what i mean.

I know i could get one made proffesionally, but i kinda need it asap.

    thanks guys,

    Steve

Post yours, I'll tell you what's broken about it.

actually im more interested in the layout rather than the content, but thanks for your input.

Cam, my current one is about 4 years out of date, im currently updaing the content but it just doesnt look professional, so you could say everything is broken.

from my perspective... keep it short and to the point.. CV's are fukn boring to read.. >3 pages = last ones to read
structure it to describe the last few jobs you did, what your responsibilities were, and how you went about achieving them, what you did well
keep embelishment to a minimum, its blatantly obvious
words like 'hard working', 'dedicated', etc are redundant. cut them if your wordcount is too high
minimal waffle about liking romantic walks on the beach, sports, motorbikes etc... we really dont care what rocks your boat when u not on the clock

meh.. fukn psb only allows 19.5kb doc... cant give u example

    pretty much...
the biggest I've ever received was 22 pages.
I actually read that one, wondered what someone could possibly crap on for that amount of time about themselves. Was amazing, described their migration from Sri Lanka to UK, then to Australia when his parents moved here, what his kids names are, what year of school they in - how he's a religious man, but secular.. blahblah

Seemed like a smart guy, but the sort that would try to a cost benefit analysis of walking to a coffee shop that was 13m closer to the office, but had 6% less coffee in the cup. Didn't get a call back

    Holy suffering fuck balls.

I got one from a guy in Texas once. A good dozen pages, also went into some bullshit about his family and other assorted things I couldn't have given two less fucks about.

Actually raised a question as to why we didn't call him back for that entry level lecturing job we had in Kalgoorlie. Ugh.

largest i have seen recently is 9 pages. This included a photo and graphic detail on them being a hermaphrodite. I found it actually quite interesting

My last resumé was just under 2 pages long, and successful.
