RIVERSIDE DRIVE DOUBLE-FATALITY Mum says "He was trying to save a mate"

Interesting twist in the story - the story is in todays West.

HEADLINE "Death Driver was trying to save mate"
Apparently the mother has claimed that "It was typical Tom, he always thought of other people first and would do anything to help a mate".

Unfortunately, I believe that there were other factors as well.
"Once you can have people more frightened of disorder than tyranny, it enables you to do almost anything you like so far as legislation is concerned." Chief Judge Antoinette Kennedy, 26/3/2010.

"The State must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf

Pretty easy to check with St Johns if they had a call around that time for a "violently ill" man.. Also where the crash happened isnt exactly on the way to a hospital from nedlands.. You know.. Just sayin.

I think it gives us a picture of probably what was going on - a mate is very sick from taking copious amounts of alcohol/drugs, also whacked mate thinks he should rush him to hospital but is clearly not fit to drive and prangs the car at some insane speed.

Drove past the accident site Wednesday arvo, and not sure how Nedlands to any hospital (apart from something in the East) works from the crash site east of the Plain Street turn off. Why not just go to charlies?

They may not have left from Nedlands, they may have got lost etc etc.

That said - a grieving mother may have also embellished the story, which I guess is somewhat understandable.

What's wrong with Charlies in Shenton Park / Hollywood? Bit closer to Nedlands than RPH.

Charlie's would have been fine, but Hollywood don't have an emergency department.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon! Press the brake foot as you roll around the corners, and save the collapse and tie up.

zackery what i was thinking, if you combine that with some alcohol/drugs/panic, you could easily have someone who is a touch confused

I'm not saying the driver didn't have his mate's best interests at heart, but I'd like to see the toxicology reports.

She said the men had been playing video games at a Nedlands home when Mr Payne suddenly became extremely sick about midnight. Her son had called her at their home in Muresk to ask for help.
Yeah, LSD, Nodoze, copious amounts of Vodka will do that to a person.

Doesn't really matter now they're dead. R.I.P. Just hope it was quick. Sadly they didn't make it to the speed camera on Riverside Drive as that would have surely saved their lives. Inappropriate sarcasm I know, but just saying...
