    Road Bikes (Pushys)

So, it seems there are a few of us that enjoy a good treadly. The new golf they say

Thought we should have small corner of PSB anything related/organise rides? (ala the supermotard thread)

What do you ride? Why do you ride i.e fitness for motorcycle racing/fun/cos its better than golf? Do you race on your pushy? Got a new steed, post a pic of your bike. Good riding locations? How often do you ride? how many k's a week/month

I for one am just getting a bit more serious about my pushy riding, to gain a higher fitness level, and basicly to get me out in the open a bit more (working 6 days a week in an office is getting to me). Just picked up my new Bianchi 1885, totally stoked with it, just need to get some k's under my belt before the Freeway Trek.

Got a road Malvern thing. Trying to get fit but failing dismally - find it hard to go for longer than 45 minutes of cycling without feeling like shit. Guess that's what 7 straight years of sex, drugs and rock and roll does.

Hardest part is convincing myself to get out of the house either after work or wake up early enough every day to fit a ride in.

Live in East Perth area close to Burswood cycle paths etc, but would be good to go in a group for motivation purposes.

Good work for kicking this off.

I've got a (relatively) cheapie flatbar roadbike. Does the trick, I don't think I'm quick enough to outride it yet but when that happens I'll probably just change the gear cassette. Also have access to a mountain/hybrid when I feel like bashing up over kerbs without consequence.

Most regular weekly riding (on the WNpR) I do is for shits and giggles. Last night we had 21 riders out, with a pub stop in the middle. Hi-vis vests, excessive flashing lights, lycra and a megaphone to top it off. Usually do 20-30kms on these rides over a couple of hours. (~18kph average)

Otherwise I'll do some fitness riding inbetween. Also ~60km return rides to Freo and faster paced river rides on the weekend when the weather permits.

It's my main mode of transport until I get my license back, and I'm enjoying riding around, it's bloody convenient! Also great for attending any place involving alcohol (I know you can get done for pissy riding but it's unlikely). After a while almost no distance is too great, and you find most places in Perth fairly easy to get to. I'm appreciating the trains.

Knowing that I'd be using a push bike a lot for a long time I bought a road bike at Christmas time, just a breeze to ride and you can get some alright speeds on it. Great for long distances. I don't ride it to get fit but it's a nice side effect of having to ride everywhere

Oh yeah and the WNpRs are a lot of fun, riding in a group and being able to chat and have a laugh is a plus, especially seeing as we don't take it seriously.

Yep WNpR for shits n giggles. But that is really my only riding...

Got the Malvern Star XT3000 Mountain bike for that, and casual riding. Eventually I'll get back onto the road racer - hand built Italian Road Racer with Wolber magnesium rims

I bought one of those choppers because the look really cool, but man are they hard to pedal, so I put a brush cutter engine in it and now its all good. My fitness has improved heaps because I can get to the shops in minutes now.

I just bought a brand new Ladies Giant (insert model type here) from Fitzroy's here in Bunno. RRP was $469.00 but since I bought two (one for the partner, exactly the same except his was the men's one) we got them a bit cheaper.

I only got it because I live 2km's from my new work. And a have a spare tyre I could afford to get rid of.

I have a Schwinn road bike... it's just a cheap one, but it's bloody good. I ride 12km to work in the city nearly every day. It's good fun... but i'm only riding it until I get my R's, then it'll be casually ridden.

Got an Avanti Monza, going in BikeHike. Use it mostly when I loose my licence.

Just started riding my old pushie to work again. Its an old Diamondback Outlook 'mountain' bike. 14 kms each way in a time of about 50 mins on knobblys.

i have a specialised flatbar road bike.

needing an ankle operation means i cant run so cycling is about it for fitness at the moment.

if my fiance asks, i ride it quite a bit to get fit for the wedding, but just between you and me i should be on it much more.

moving to busselton and living right on the beach means those bike paths should see a bit of action though.

i ride a Trek 1500 two days a week to my work in Osborne Park, from door to door is spot on 30 kays..... can manage to sit on 25-27 kph average now, so the trip is faster door to door than taking the bus and train.......

i also have a Cannondale dual suspension mountain bike, half ali, half carbon, but the forks are shagged for the moment, need some new seals......

I'm currently riding an Apollo unknown-model roadbike. Nothing special and pretty heavy but it's been quite reliable so far.

I ride for general fitness at the moment with the thought of maybe getting involved in some of the cycling clubs down the track. Maybe even racing but that's a fair way off, I never have been much of an athlete.

I used to ride to work and uni in days gone past but my workplace doesn't have the necessary facilities so I'm stuck on the train so I'm solely a weekend rider. I mainly do the coastal roads and back streets through the suburbs to find the good hills, Ewen Street in Doubleview and the river runs are always good fun.

Building up to the Freeway Bike hike is the main aim at the moment. I've ridden up to Barbagello's and back, Gidgegannup and back (up Toodyay Road into the wind was a challenge) and the plan this weekend is to tackle Mundaring Weir Road starting in Midland and coming back via Darlington.

I've got a Eddy Merckx racing. I ride fairly often out of Cragie early mornings. I'm training back up to race again and its the best excercise for my M/X and Enduros. Its also great at building back up my busted leg. If you live NOR and are keen for early morning jaunts I'm in. I ride outa Bikeforce Woodvale Tuesday Morning (harder ride) Friday mornings easy ride and flit between Bikeforce and Cyclemania Saturday morning rides.

    Fixie faggot roadie.
Frame is heavy as fuck, but it's not too bad, as this is somewhat mitigated by the weight saved by not having a cassette and derailier..

Need to start riding to work (only a few km, so no excuse) every day but there's always the WNpR..

Hey, i have an 08 Giant hardtail that i first brought to get into some mountain bike riding. used to get out all the time but the people i used to ride with sorta got bored of it and moved on. Im always keen for rides for fitness and fun, Know some great singletracks and some real fun jump sections in jarradale serpentine area. Plus the usual spots in mundaring. let me know if anyones keen to get out there as the weathers prfect for it these days.

I bought an old POS road bike on gumtree for $40 and bought new rubber bits for it. It's heavy and I'm about to break my third set of pedals. My bum hurts.
