    Robots are improving...

"Once you can have people more frightened of disorder than tyranny, it enables you to do almost anything you like so far as legislation is concerned." Chief Judge Antoinette Kennedy, 26/3/2010.

"The State must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf

A few months ago we purchased an iRobot Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner, it works really well. I noticed it uses a similar search pattern to a ladybird and just read the other day that the search patterns are derived from MIT research on foraging insects.

There is not better experimental platform than evolution.

If at first you don't succeed, dont bother taking up sky diving.
This unit is portable when carried.
it wasn't a normal cookie, i figured that out 45 minutes into my exam.

The one in the pic is run on batteries, however we are currently looking at removing the batteries and putting a small fuel burning generator inside as this will increase the run time considerabley, di you see the vid or just the pic? if you click on the pic you will see the video.

A turbine would be great, hoever the fuel consumption is very high and getting rid of the waste heat will be an issue. we were thinking one of the new very compact and quiet Honda gennys.

One of the plans for this is to fit it out with a small ground penetrating radar for land mine and IED detection, its currently got a top speed of about 30 kph, you will see it on Monday :-)

Some pretty amazing/scary stuff, but lets face it, until you can shag them like that Cherry 2000 film only the vacuum cleaners are domestically viable.
    Munkers likes this.

True, but if science had the funds religion has enjoyed for eons we might have better explanations by now, or at least hover shoes.

I employ one of the dweebs in this competition. He seems pretty smart apart from not realizing that if you leave a piece of machinery on the lawn overnight its electronics will become saturated with dew.
