Snapped this one last night at Southlands shopping centre, sorry bout the crappy quality: phone cam, no flash.
I beefed up the contrast a bit to make it more readable, but anyway the top sign says "Please return trolleys here".

well at least the bays are curbed to make them cage-resistant.

Eesh I don't know what would be worse - cars taking up bike spots or trolleys rolling about the place.

Here's a guy who parked in the bike spots out the front of tyres for bikes a few weeks back.

Rod, I see that all the time.

The place it seems to be the worst is Perth City - the King Street and Murray Street multiple bays. Pain in the arse when you're riding around for a spot and fucking cagers have blindly (or knowingly) taken up the spots.

Yesterday morning 9.15am, Hay street 4 bike bays covered by cruiser type vehicle, okay no worries it's a free for all until 12noon, so four bikes park on otherside of the road in a car bay, we come out of Miss Maudes at 11.45am and there's 2 of the finest COP inspectors ready waiting to pounce on our bikes with fines for parking in the car bay, we got on our bikes and they get in their van and drove away, didn't even hang around give the bloody car a fine

What's worse is that he was picking up some wheels from Tyres for Bikes too. I only knew that it was his car when he walked out and put the wheels in the boot of the car and drove off. He was in the shop for quite a few minutes between when I arrived and he left. Even though it may have been 10 or 15 minutes, it's the thought that counts.....

Yep, the bike bays in front of Miss Mauds tend to be taken by cars alot. AFAIK and I have seen it, the bike bays are for bikes - ALL THE TIME. The times on the sign post indicate times allowed for bikes. I have seen cars being booked for parking there outside those times.

Regarding your parking on the other side, that is a 5 minutes parking zone, so if the inspectors want to book you, it is for parking beyond the time limit, not because bikes park in a car spot. I don't believe there is any rule against bikes parked in "car" spot, as long as you follow the times on the sign post. The normal sign posts never specify CAR parking written on it (other than those that specify BUSES or TOUR COACHES).

Where have the bike bays gone from midland gate shopping centre
I park at the bicycle racks right at the end and get told by security to move it.
I end up arguing with him in the shops.
I told him i would not move it until there was a sign saying i could not park my bike there.

This place is crap for parking bikes!
Why should you need a bike bay - whats wrong with the footpath, out of the way places, anywhere you can basically fit a bike in, like they do in other countries.
Been in to the city once on the bike and had to talk my way out of a ticket!!!

I park outside the glass doors at Midland and haven't ever been told off, there aren't any bike bays now

I personally have never ever had a fine or been told I would be fined or even had someone try to fine me for parking in a car bay. Although once when I parked in a car bay (next to the ranger) he looked over at me and said "bike bays full" I said "Ummm yeah car's in it".
He goes "Give me 15 mins the car will be towed".

Came back 20 mins later and saw the car being towed down the road and the driver having a few words with the ranger. I heard yelling "Why dont you tow that fukin bike then". and the ranger saying "Well first of all the bike is in 1 bay inbetween the lines, you sir have parked accross 4 bays and not within any lines.
If it aint yours DONT TOUCH IT and you cant afford to fix it DONT RIDE IT!

You want the new underground parking. 10 bike bays right next to the escalators. And a dry seat when its raining
