Even though he has authority to carry a weapon and discharge it in public should his judgement deem to be required? He used EXCEPTIONALLY BAD judgement in this case but no one was killed or even injured and has been charged what the magistrate deemed accordingly.
We have seen Murderers and Serious Assault offenders get off with less in the past so this seems like fair punishment.
EDIT: MEMBERS OF PUBLIC ARE NOT LICENSED TO CARRY AND DISCHARGE FIREARMS ANYWHERE OTHER THAN WHERE PERMITTED BY THEIR LICENSE. There is a huge difference.
Does the same logic apply to schoolteachers who get done for child rape?

No, what I am saying is that ancillary adverse outcomes that might be suffered by a convicted criminal as a direct consequence of his criminal conduct are not relevant mitigating factors for the purposes of sentencing.
