Incest child died of congenital defect - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
A court document reveals that a child born to a father and his daughter died due to congenital heart disease just days after the birth.
John Earnest Deaves, 61, and Jennifer Anne Deaves, 39, met again after years of little contact and started a sexual relationship.
Each pleaded guilty to charges of incest in the District Court in South Australia last month and the judge imposed an order that their sexual relationship must cease.
The court heard that their first child, born in 2001, died a few days after birth because of the congenital disorder.
The couple had a second child last May and there are two other children from the woman's earlier relationship.
South Australia's Department for Families and Communities had been advised of the relationship and called in police to investigate, leading to the court proceedings.
