Thoughts on this 250 for a noob

    Hey PSB

Well im 25 days away from landing in Perth and im looking for a motorbike to learn on.

Ive been watching the classifieds (bikepoint, bikesales, here etc) for a 250 and theres not alot going in WA.

A friend of mine is selling her Suzuki GSXF 250 here in Adelaide and i could get it for 3k. $700 bucks to transport it to Perth, i think its a very reasonable deal.

    What are your thoughts??

    Link: 1996 SUZUKI GSX250F ACROSS - BikePoint

    Appreciate your feedback.

    Luke

It seems to look like a good enough deal.

so its 4k by the time you get it here, take it to the pits and get it rego'd. and thats assuming it doesnt need any work to make it through inspection.

they dont need a RWC, but i thought they needed to go over pits when coming from interstate, although i recall the rules may have changed recently.

    here you go;

    Licensing interstate or overseas vehicles

the difficult part is that to avoid having to get the bike inspected, you have to have owned it for more than 12 months.

GO check out some bikes in person. Until you do, figuring out whether or not to buy a bike is like pissing into the wind.

Any of the 250s will do the job, personally (if its going to be your only bike) i'd try to go for something 2003 onwards (even if its a GPX or "slow" 250) as they're likely to be more reliable and in much better condition - for about the same money.

I mean instead of some flogged out 13 year old across, for about the same money you could get a 2007 model GPX or maybe 2005-2006 model ZZR.

I know what I'd rather have; the gpx/zzr aren't *that* slow that they can't give you fun whilst on your RE - they'll still do 170-180km/h.
    stuff

Thankyou also. Sounds like sound advice. Looks like i might hold off on the purchase then.

dont forget to ring revs and make sure there's no money owing on it either.

i sold a bike on behalf of someone who went overseas, she never did bother with a revs check when she bought it and theres money owing on it.

now the guy that bought it is suing me for $7123.00

    go figure that out.

    please get a revs check

They'll do that (eventually ) no problem if you're not a fat fuck and actually crouch behind the screen

    (indicated speed anyway).

I saw 170-175 on my zzr, a mate saw 180 on his gpx.

I'm 84-90kg (depending on dietary habits at the time ) 183cm, he's quite a bit smaller...
