Not really sacked, but the writing was in the bag a while before production was eventually finished and another season ordered, long enough that the original crew had all moved on to other gigs.
It'll be worth waiting for. I can't get enough weekly zombies.

Thanks to the folks here, I have finally started watching The Walking Dead (I am slooow I know) and it is definitely the biz. 4 eps in and just getting better and it pulls no punches...
