Unbelievable: Blinded woman literally seeks eye for eye punishment

An Iranian woman living in Spain said on Wednesday she welcomed a Tehran court ruling that awards her eye-for-an-eye justice against a suitor who blinded her with acid.

Yep, they're gonna strap this dude down and put some drops of acid in his eye.
Don't get me wrong, the guy obviously is not right. But, this still seems weird to me.

But Bahrami, who moved to Spain after the attack to get medical treatment, said on Wednesday that under Iranian law, she is entitled to blind him in only one eye, unless she pays E20,000 ($A39,223), because in Iran women are not considered equal to men.

"They have told us that my two eyes are equal to one of his because in my country each man is worth two women. They are not the same," she told Cadena SER.

Equality between men and women is basically non-existent through the Middle East, and plenty of other developing nations. It's not an uncommon thing.

Oh.. as for the content... is pretty damn poor they can do that, but then again some of those coutnries do a lot worse (ie beheadings in public)... I think it should be the choice of the defendant.. you can receive the same punishment as you caused and be free or rot in jail for x years...

And on the subject, it does seem a rather appropriate punishment. She will have to live with the scars for the rest of her life. Why shouldn't he?

This is a fairly common occurence in Iran apparently, maybe this will discourage it.
