UPS Package delivered to the wrong address

So I have quite an expensive item. ~1500

The person who sent it to me sent it to my old residential address instead.

The item is addressed to my name just my old address.

It was sent by UPS and has been signed for by someone at the address.

Now.

I dont know the names of the people that live there now.
I dont have their phone numbers.
I cant contact ups until tomorrow at the earliest.

What should I do? Would it be unreasonable to just go knock on the door and ask or do I then tip them off that I know and they deny it.

Anyone that has had the same problem before I would love to know.

It's happened to me before. I had forgotten to update my address on eBay, and the item got delivered to my old place. I went back after work hours and knocked on the door, and explained the situation. Didn't have any problems getting my stuff.

Done that before, never saw my item again despite it being a po box. People fucking lie when they get free goodies and don't want to give them back. MAybe go to the post office and explain first.

Not really much point going to the post office as it was UPS. I have a friend that lives close by (i no longer do) who is going to knock on the door. Failing that I will contact UPS. Failing that I will make a stealing report at the police station. Its not like I dont have the evidence to prove they have it.

I'd get around there quick before Mom and Pop who were expecting a new pot throw out your new-fangled stuff that is obviously worth nothing because it weighs nothing.

Friend popped around and the lady was reasonable but claimed she had not received any packages for sometime. She fessed up to another package that was delivered and she returned to the post office. So she is pretty honest. My mate left my name and number with her so she could call me if anything happend.

She called me about 10 mins after speaking to my mate and said. She had been away the day it was delivered. However her brother who was at her house mowing the lawn at the time signed for the package and has it in his car. He was going to drop it back to her when he saw her this week.

So she is going to call me tomorrow when she has it for me to collect.

Well I finally got it this after noon and the tube it was in had been opened both ends and one of the packets inside had also been opened. So not entirely sure they were planning on giving it back.

However its all there and I have it so I am happy.

As if the brother would have signed for the package and taken it with him! I reckon the lady opened your dildo and figured, as her brother was into some weird shit, she would give it to him. Ten minutes later your mate drops around and she denies all knowledge. Rings the brother and say "They're onto us".
