Red face Wanting to buy DJ Decks

Hey I have recently looked at buying a Traktor S2 or S4

Can anyone give me some reccomendedations on other decks which may be similar in price but better?

I'm wanting something perfect to learn on but ample enough for parties and live performances.

I've got amps/speakers/mixing desks/computer gear just need a decent enough deck

    The S2 is $499 and S4 $1199 at Kosmic

I think you would be better off getting a pioneer setup and running traktor through that with control discs...

CDJ 850's will set you back $700-$900 each depending on where you go/who you know, and have a jog wheel/setup similar to industry standard CDJ1000s. Works well if you want to play out. You could also look for second hand CDJ800s/1000s too, but make sure they aren't too banged up and everything works fine first.

Pioneer is also really user friendly and easy to set up traktor mapping etc.

If you need a cheap mixer with effects etc and four channels, look up the Behringer DDM4000 - around $400 and is fantastic value for money!

Or just use CDJ's I hate Traktor/Serato etc. and find it much better using CDJs. If the place I play at has CDJ2000's I use USBs and if it has 1000s I use CDs. Easier if you're playing off 3 or 4 decks too!

Yeah i got some denon cdj's with mixer goin for $300. Denon DN-S1000 decks with Denon DN-X100 mixer if ya wanna look up. But then if ya wanted traktor you'd have to buy that too (Traktor scratch duo will do - dont need the s2 or s4)

If you are set on the S2/S4 Have a look in DJ Factory Northbridge, on James St... when you are inline with the back of metro city, head west 50m and theyre there on the north side of the street next to a laneway with a gate on it. Cheaper than Kosmic for sure.

Atleast with a real cdj based setup with traktor you can always still play cd's too.
When the only tool you have is a hammer, every thing starts to look like a nail
