What to do with a heap of coins

So I have a pillow case full of coins, and want to convert them to real cash / deposit it into my account.

What's the easiest way to go about it?
Last time I went to my branch with a lesser amount they gave me a stack of coin bags. I can't be arsed doing it this time.
I'm with NAB, if that makes any difference.

Take it to a branch with a coin counter/coin swap facility. Dump all the coins in and it gives you a printout to deposit.

The last time I was in the CBA Morley they had a machine you feed coins into and it printed you a receipt to take to the tellers.

Not sure if it is still there as this was some time ago.

1.Get lots of money bags from the bank
2.Count said coins into there amounts nominated on bags
3.Line up at your bank of choice and deposit.

They will have a little machine which weighs each bag to check if correct amount.

The NAB branch at Dianella shopping center has a coin counting machine. Just take them in there, dump them in the machine, it'll give you a receipt and just take that up to the counter and they'll deposit into your account free of charge.

Bring earplugs though, it makes a hell of a noise.

Edit: Sorry, the one in Dianella is a CBA, but the NAB Next to Just Spectacles and Toys R US in Galleria have a coin counting machine there.

Anythiing with the little coin symbol has one of those coutners.

National Australia Bank - Locate us

Just be careful with other banks if you're not with them. CBA charges 5 or 10% of the money if you don't hold an account with them.

As far as I know all banks only accept mass coins if they are bagged up according to denomination in the little zip lock coin bags. Go get a stack front the teller, find a trustworthy niece/nephew/cousin/neighbours kid who is bored on school holidays, pay them an ice cream and kids meal and get them to sort it out for you.
    Be patient or become one.

I used to take the time and put all my gold coins into those little bags and was clearning $400-$500 in about 3 months. For all my other shit coins (silver), you can take them to Commbank or something and they have the coin machines. I have a mate who works CiT and they have their own coin counting machine so I just go there.

Easiest way to do it yourself is to sort coins out into seperate stacks... I usually do mine on the coffee table and watch the tv while doing it... if you sort them in stack of 10s, you pretty much doing the casino dealer war of counting...

    I find counting money soothing

I wonder if you can bring the gold coins into Casino and then cash it there?

Counting machines are about, a bit hard to find.

    Edit: Doh beaten!
I love counting coins and popping them in bags. Though the secret is to stack them on a baking tray. E.g. 20c coins, make a stack 5 coins high then make sure your other stacks are the same height. Much faster than actually counting them.

    As aside note:
50c coins make good dominos. Dad had a tin full that I used to play with as a kid, line them all up then knock them down Fun ended when the radiator on the car went and we needed to buy a new one
