What happens to you online when you die ?

Its an interesting question, given that we mostly all have online social media profiles. While I personally think that no one will care about using my online presence when I'm dead, would you be upset if someone did ?

Developers need to make a program that profiles your posts and then automatically activates if you are no longer online and posts for you.

Online immortality.

Mind you, for some people you could make a script that just passes on a facebook chain email daily and posts up a random fat dog on PSB and no one would notice.

I suspect it would be a lot of inactive user accounts, eventually deleted, most of these people you "interact" with online don't know you personally, don't really give a rat's arse about you--some , if they get wind of it, would just use it to build post count (RIP rider). About as sincere and meaningful as an OMG on twitter. Do I come across as negative? The digital world has opened up enormous possibilities for identity theft, as we all know.
I have no wish to be resurrected digitally, with a personality based on my online browsing habits

There will be so many dead people that have FB profiles, no-one is going to give a shit about the ordinary folk - although you may have a robot dog who talks in Stephen fry tweets to you all day.

To get accounts shutdown, I would presume that the admins of any site that you are a member of, would have to be given proof of the following :

Username & Password
Registration email address and name associated with it
Proof of ownership of the above
Death certificate.

Course the proviso is that the assumption of the user keeping a list of the sites that you are a member of.

Lost my mum in december, for me it was pretty easy as I admin a family domain name, so I just bought up the offending pages and did a password retrieve and then logged in and deleted the said accounts.

as most people have some form of pop etc you could do the same if you could log into their personal comp.

if no one does anything..... you would become inactive and eventually prob get chopped in a cleanup (like the ones PSB do every few years)
