Where would you go to buy a car Chassis/Shell

Okay, I'm looking to start a project car (S15 Silvia, spec R), from the ground up...
But I don't know where to find a Chassis/shell for it? I don't care if its rolling or not, I just want to know where the best place to look is, if anyone has any experience like this.

Jump on antilag car forums and contact MrMayhem he currently has 2 jap spec s15 shells. Both rollers with no engine or box but rest is complete. They are track only cars tho and cannot be registered. But they r only $4k

If I do build up a car from the ground up, to get it road registered would I have to buy a rolling shell that has registration to it? Sorry, Im new to this.

Not exactly. Some cars will never be able to be registered though. Statutory write-offs. Cars without tags. Modified to the point that it cannot be returned to a roadworthy, registerable condition etc.

The 2 for sale on antilag, have been imported as "race only" so they can never be registered.

i'm guessing your hoping buying a bare shell may be a cheaper way to build up the car you want. Buying all the parts individually will end up costing you probably 3 times the amount it would of cost to buy a complete registered car.
Your best bet is to keep an eye out and try find a nice clean low Km stock car then build it up to what you want from there.

I guess the benefits of that are that I can keep it road registered to?

you might be surprised but you can buy a s14 / 15 with a ca18 engine in it and have it go as hard as an sr20det for a little less than going one with an sr20det. A place I completed my apprenticship at had a young guy wanting to go with the sr20det but my boss advised against it and convinced him to do up his ca18 and to be honest the thing f'ing flu. I was optimistic and the end result was surprising.

I would buy a complete car and use it for as many parts possible.

S14 and S15 never came out with a CA18 they only had the VVT SR20's. All Aus delivered S14 and S15s are turbo. Though u can get NA versions as an import.

Ca18's do have potential but they are an old engine and aftermarket parts are getting harder to come by.

yep, only the first of the S13's came out with the CA, which was essentially a shortened RB20. Good little motor but deffinately no SR. Me I would ditch both and fit a 2J
