    Why the cone of silence

Been following the recent very sad thread on the Bedfordale fatality and didn't want to air this on that, so have raised it here.

Why, in these circumstances, does there seems to be a cone of silence as to who the victim is? I understand that it is very upsetting to the family and those involved but surely once the family has been informed there is no reason to supress the details and there may be some who weren't involved that may want to pay their respects? This seems to happen each time an incident like this occurs. Maybe I am missing a point somewhere, but to me it smacks of "I know but I'm not telling you 'cos that gives me power".

Be happy to be shat on now.

"I know but I'm not telling you 'cos that gives me power".
Why would anyone feel any sort of power in this situation?

Cone of silence is out of respect for the family. ALL the family.

    Certainly not a power thing.
PSB protocol is to not post up details unless given permission by the family of the rider.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

    No... its a fair question.
The reason being.... it's bit of an assumption that all close friends and family have all been notified. Sometimes it can take a few days because people have been away over the weekend or out of contact.
There's no witholding information just because we want to.

Truly a sad day yesterday. RIP rider.

I think its purley a respect thing,

the tragic events can not ne retold by the person or persons involved.

So we best respect the poor family that have to deal with this and let the person/s Rest In Peace
