THIS is why we can't trust our leaders in power.

Asset freeze author says DPP action &squo;insane&squo; | PerthNow

This is the very thing we get concerned about. The Powers That Be creating laws which are seemingly for the benefit of society, then pissing all over the intended purpose and twisting them.

I hope it gets thrown out of court.

The way I read the article is that the DPP decided that the law could be applied here even though that was not it's intended purpose. What a motherfucker.

What do you call 500 lawyers at the bottom of the sea?

    A good start.

So a guy co-writes a book with a crook, and also publishes it. The crook can't make money from it, which sounds fair, but somehow the other writer/publisher can't either?

So what about today tonight? Should they not derive ratings and hence income from covering Short Steve getting pineappled?

    That's one strange precedent

In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

So, say this guy (the author) has committed a crime. The media shouldn't be allowed access to the case as they intend to run the story and gain a profit from it. That is clearly an intent to profit from crime and "the media" should have its assets frozen as well.

    That's not what I suggested.
All I'm saying is that we are in a totally different era than that of those born and raised in the 1940s-1960s.
The world in the last 20 years has changed more than the world has in the last 500.
We need leadership to reflect that.

That's what they said in the 60's. And the 70's. But the problem isn't with one generation, it's with one class. The OP was incorrect in suggesting laws are made for the good of society. Laws are made for the good of the rich, because the rich are elected, with the money of other rich people. The laws that are 'for the good of society' are just there to shut us up and keep us happy.

Sure, because more people blindly serving the leaders of this country in their quest to bully less fortunate countries, take their resources and join in on the game of top-dog imperialism America has been playing of late is a fantastic idea.

I only have one suggestion - introduce death penalty to politicians and law makers who:
    1. fail to keep their election promise
    2. introduce a silly, idiotic, nonsensical or fascist law
    3. ...<fill in the blank>
    4. ...<fill in the blank>
    5. ...<fill in the blank>
      ...
      ...

Oh yeah, one more thing ...politicians and law makers should, by law, be required to have an R licence.

    WA's DPP - what a cock.

    Cheap shot, I know.

This kinda thing is just scary. Because the potential knock-on is scary. I sell my bike privately for cash, it turns out that the cash came from a robbery. I, like the book's author, committed no crime and yet now all of a sudden I'm treated like I have. That's just wrong...

Me personally I fully respect the idea of compulsory serving .. then again I am a Navy brat and have been brought up believing in the right to defend our nation ... its not about "bullying less fortunate countries" ... its about teaching people self discipline and respect and believing in the rights of your country and people as a whole ( god I souind like a military recruiter .... kill me now hehe )

With the deathy penalty the govt doesnt decide who lives and dies .. a jury does. And its usually only applicable to the most heinous of crimes. I am all for it. The people who killed Anita Cobby as just one of the more well known examples ... those bastards dont deserve free room and board and foxtel and internet .... Its a fine line and its a hard topic and everyone has an opinion mine is ... we put down vicious dogs who bite people why not the mongrel animals of humankind that kill people (and now I sound like a cynical hater of everyone hehe)

ok Im gonna stop typing now ... coz my typing sucks

Some time ago, the wisdom in some peoples minds, was to take away parental control over their children until they were adults. That is to say, stop people from disciplining their children, by scolding, smacking them, basic punishment to get their act together, respect to adults and alike. They saw this as "child abuse". Now, for want of the many as against the needs of the one, any type of disciplinary action against your children is deemed punishable by law. They said your child can now take you to court for such actions -

Im 47 years old - a life where by I was raised to respect my elders, get a clip round the ear when I was wrong, training by the ocassional necessary and in some cases Mandatory punishment by a beating from my parents, did me no harm what so ever - if anything, it gave me a healthy respect for myself, and other people, and that of property too.

Now here we are in a society where cop bashers are let go!!! - what the fuck is that business?

    http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/foru...our-say-79530/

And eye for an eye attitude sometimes works well - Not necessarily carried out, but the implied THREAT in some instances STOPS any type of ongoing bullying from people like this at an earlier age. We have kids running round the streets defacing peoples private retaining walls; stealing cars from as young as 10 years old!!! - When are people going to realise we are not goping to lay down with our legs in the vase position and say - "its ok, stick it up may ass again, I have no problem with it".

Essentially we have grown and NOW are as a society, rewarding BAD BEHAVIOUR - it has to stop or we are on a collision course for war in our own streets!...

people may say it not ok to discipline your own children, but if you dont and they run amuck, look where it ends up - the teachers have no control over kids any longer; they too are being bullied by a snot nosed 12 year of for christ sake - there rights to educate our children by giving and receiving respect have also been removed - guess were back to the old saying of - "Buy a Dog and Bark for yourself'? -

The people that enacted this type of stupidity should all have their houses burglarised or burnt down by a minor, and see how far they get in court with a prosecution............................IT should never have happened in the first place - prevention is better than cure..........................
