Its mint. My dad was a backyard mechanic from the same era, much of what is in the movie reminds me of him.

Certainly one of the top five bike movies, but one which still appeals to the average punter. I've watched it more than twice, and visited the beach the early race scene was shot on. He is a legend in unzud...
" Lightly Seared On The Reality Grill"
Aye it's a cracker. I saw some footage somewhere of the real Burt Munro. Hopkins did an uncanny job acting as him.

Get the dvd, stupid cunts at one cut off quite a bit of stuff to accommodate ads, including his little speech to the army dude when he gets to the lake, about the past racers at bonneville, quite a touching moment sliced off for an ad about pro active or some shit.
Great movie tho..

I have also been told that he managed to beat that record but never got the chance to have it recorded!
Burt wasn't just into his Indian. He also had the worlds fastest Velocette too until just the last couple of years.
To bad it was before my time would have liked to have met him!
The credits noted that he returned to Bonneville 9 times.
