Probably a few years now, but I'm there every few weeks on average. It's not a patch on what it was.
Oh yeah, I had a barmaid spit in my face there about 12 months ago. Granted it was an accident, but then she overcharged me for the drink.

There's a difference between a good honest, unpretentious suburban pub and an absolute hovel though isn't there?
I don't think we're all on here wishing for every local watering hole to become a wanky, metro trend-spot but there's no excuse for keeping an unhygienic shithole with dirty beer either.

When you point it out like that then OKshithole with dirty beer either
I will shut up now.
After reading so many pub rants it got me defensive admitadly.
I love pubs, as a culture , as a barometer on the local area.
ICannot stand however pubs that dont clean there lines properly

I really am getting old. There's no such thing as a bad pub, just bad clientelle. Anywhere you can get a coldie when you need it, without some upstart young turd starting any trouble, is ok in my book. Some of my favourite haunts (back in the days) were the Kewie, the Carousel, the Rangie, the Ascot & the Redcliffe. It's a lot harder these days to find a real workers bar where you dont have to be wearing lip gloss to get in.

If you like dueling banjos, then the Beldon Tavern is worth a look.

Parkerville Tavern went downhill a couple of years ago and has stayed there. Some new people who seem to have no idea how to run a pub took over running the pub. Service went to shit, prices went up, the staff that were rude were kept. On a St Patrick's day they had advertised a special, then forgot to tell all of their staff about it. They got argumentative as well. Only gave a refund after we went home and got the advert to shove it in their face.
There was one "senior" staff member who was constantly swearing at everyone.
Tl;dr service became terrible, prices went up too much. It now caters for a group of bogans who love their jacks and skimpies.
Thats a shame i loved the parkerville when we had the chidlow place, it was one of the few places you could pick up a decent country girl for a bit of fun on a sunday arvo

Just noticed The Northwood Ale House mentioned in a thread as possibly one of the worst pubs in Perth dating back 5 years.
My wife and I took over this business in 2009 and have recently spent $600,000 on renovations and additions. It is a vastly changed venue and we invite all members and readers of this site to come down and check out the new Northwood Ale House.
Thank you,
John
Hi, Just saw this old thread. Give us a call and we would be happy to show the all new Northwood...we took over in 2009 and it is a very good venue now. Check it out for yourself.

Thanks for replying. It is certainly not dodgy now. We have been here nearly 3 years and i spent at least the first 12 months taking on and getting rid of the dodgy ones, including car park riff raff.
Don't tolerate crap from patrons nor allow unwanted pests in our car park.
It is a vastly changed pub and environment.
Come down and see for yourself!

well, i guess our google search tools are still working fine...
I'm talking about 10 years ago John, props to you for having a go to make it a decent place to go. I suppose in the last 10 years the Homeswest quota in the area has gone down and more ppl investing in the area as its relatively cheap still???
Whats happening in the Kitchen these days? There was a whingy lousy excuse for a chef running it when I was there.

The Ambassador.
I can handle the crusty old stuck to the seat sadfolk, but everyone here looks like they are on meth.
Thankfully the wheels were still on my car after using the drive-thru bottleshop.

I like a sausage as much as anyone, but bloody hell theres more sausage at the subi on a friday night than I can handle.
