I agree havago.

A canned response to somebody dying is a little callous. Could you please remove it? I'm not asking as a mod, just as a person.

Well sorry Barfridge i dont see the problem as i said, it is a emoticon
that is used by a number of other forums.
If it was really in that much of bad taste it wouldn't be.

Or would you prefer that i just type RIP?

it's a picture of a little frowning YELLOW FUCKNG smiley face standing infront of a goddam GRAVESTONE that says RIP. How can you NOT see why it is in poor taste?

I can't speak for other forums, just for what I believe.

Expressing condolance should be a personal thing, it should come from your own sense of sympathy, empathy and with real feeling.

As I said earlier, I find it callous and lacking in sympathy, both for the deceased and those left behind.

As an example of what I mean: try holding an intimate conversation with your wife/girlfriend using nothing but pre-written cards. It doesn't work, there is no involvement, no emotion.

I find comments like this more of an issue than a emoticon imo.

But it has been removed. :GROUPHUG:
