Your suburb - Safe or not safe..

Well, im assuming this does indeed deserve its own topic instead of its own topics..

How do you think your suburb rates in a scale of 1-10 (1 being not safe, cops called every 2 minutes, 10 being, leaving windows open in your car over night)

Ill start with being in Rockingham (yeahhh stereotypes)

Today started off like any day off, majority of it was sleeping then i get a call at about 12:30 and my boss wants me to collect my pay from his house near by, so i get there at about 1 oclock, after we sort everything out we both leave (him going to his sons in canning vale for a xmas celebration)..

at 1:30 i get a call from my mates missus saying "Your bosses house is on fire.."
So i rock up at 1:35 and talk to the bloke that reported it (not being let in from the fire crew) saying that all the doors were locked, so they had to push the truck infront of the fire out onto the road (Turned out the caravan was on fire, caught onto the house a bit to)... yet when the fireys came the door at the front was wide open..

So its being treated as suspected arson, In the 30 minutes nobody was there, somebody has allegedly broken in and a fire was started.. gg rockingham.

Also, being at the door on a mates cousins 17th, started on numerous times of the night, hell i even had tomato sauce put in my hair from some rando (i know his name and where he lives ) a few got in by brute force, which then decided to punch the other bloke my mate helping on the door in the face two times as he asks them to leave.. ahh

So, your suburb, your storys, being good or bad. kgo!

No stories about North Perth, we've had no dramas in four years. We're about 300 meters from a busy pub and leave cars and the house unlocked more often than not. Have never seen the cops in our street in all that time either. I'll rate North Perth at nine.
What I believe but cannot prove is that no part of my consciousness will survive my death. That this span is brief, that consciousness is an accidental gift of blind processes, makes our existence all the more precious and our responsibilities for it all the more profound.

I live in bassendean, nuff said.

The dodgy side, off walter road that is.

Had petrol bombs on the road outside our house, shitheads trying to cut through the fly wire on our door while our car was in teh driveway and we were home.

Had parties and 4 indigenous people, about 19-20 come to our house, asking for booze and the like.

Doesnt go down to well with arabs.

    =D
Seriously though, basso was pretty bad 10 years ago, 5 years ago, and even 1 year ago.

been pretty quiet the last 6months though, which is good.

South Lake gets some bad rep, but I've never had a problem here in 3 years or so. There's a few "homeswest" properties around but theyre fairly centralised in the suburb.

Never had a break-in or anything else dodgy. Used to catch the bus to TAFE back in '06, saw some pretty shady characters but never had a problem.

However, going to the shops (near Fitzy's, for those that know it) can be a bit hairy at night....or on sunday sometimes.

Lived in Vic Park, East Vic Park, Bentley and Rockingham in the past 4 years.

Had window to my car smashed in underground 'secure' apartment parking and someone scaled the balconys to break into our apartment among others once in Vic Park.

Lived right near Oats St train station in East Vic Park and the previous tenants claimed they were broken into when they moved out (read had a wild party and couldnt get stains out so decided to trash it and say it was a break in) and had a mountain bike stolen from our backyard, my petrol door forced open on my car and then siphoned and someone attempting to steal money out of the cigarette tray in one car (caught by my other half) and someone attempting to steal our ute once (was found in the middle of the road).

Bentley property we had an attempted break in about 6 months ago (see the laundry window Luke lol) and I caught them as I woke up to my dogs going ballistic and scared them off but still had a visit from forensics as we were one of 8 that night. Also had someone attempt to steal my dog once (he's worth a bit) but was caught carrying him away (very dodgy looking guy)

However in Rockingham I have had not one problem in 5 months and I have a homeswest property next door I don't hear a peep out of.

I considered the other 3 safe (and still do to some extent) and Rockingham to be the dodgiest but it's the only one I have not had a problem with

I'm in Basso too, but over the other side of the tracks, 2 streets back from Guildford Rd.
You only get the occasional random wandering past on the way to the pub, otherwise it's very quiet.

A friend lives 1 street over closer to Guidford Rd (out houses almost back onto each other), and I would rate that a 4 to 5, you get lots more randoms in the street

In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

I lived in Ellenbrook since 2000. Our street, a little cul de sac, was attacked once a few years ago. Two guys work at Telstra, and they had their vans parked outside.
Needless to say that they were cleaned out.
Otherwise no issues, had car left open, front door unlocked, but never got done myself. A bit lucky I suppose, coz the the suburb has grown hugely, and has attracted its share of problems in some areas.
    I Would give it a 5.

Theres lots of apartments around me in Jolimont, but surprisingly I've not had any trouble at all. You often assume that an area with lots of apartments and lots of rentals, would have trouble, but nup.

I think perhaps because there are so many people around there are always people out and, kind of an "eyes on the street" thing.

    Atwell, I'd give it a 9.
Lots of guys doing burnouts, runners and general hoon activity, but that just adds to it I think.

I've lost count of the number of prowlers I've chased off in the 3yrs I've lived in bentley.

Had half a dozen smashed car windows in my driveway.. 300 bucks a pop below insurance excess.

    Screaming domestics is not uncomon.

Cop cars in peoples driveways and pulled over dodgy's in the street is a daily thing.

Weekend walk outside at 1am for a smoke and before u finish u will see dodgy assholes walking around the streets.

Yep, Rocko. Even had my guard dog stolen.

Its not a bad town tho. You can find out who burged your house within 2 days, and go and get your stuff back.

I also live in North Perth, 400 metres from the same busy pub. Its pretty good, you don't get any drunks wondering up our street. We did however, have a guy selling drugs next door for a while (people would come to our house instead and park in our driveway, as next door doesn't have a driveway). The cops busted their door in twice over a month period and so obviously, they didn't get their lease renewed. Apart from that (which was pretty minor; they didn't bother us and kept to themselves) North Perth is pretty good. 9

I'm moving back to Pearsall in the next two months. Its a good suburb, nice and quiet. There were one or two stabbings in the last few years but you're always going to get some bad apples in the bunch. 8

O look I wasn't racist in explaining the situation.

I live in Thornlie and with all the mussies and maori's its pretty safe.
The mussies wont blow up their own neighbourhood and the maorie's I've found to be very friendly folk that dont accept people trashing their street.

I've had a car pinched from here once but it was found 10km's away and was just used by someone to get home with no damage.

All up we feel safe here and have great neighbours so I'd give it a 9

Gosnells, would give my street an 8 or 9. People are good, watching out for one another and my neighbours are cool.

There is a fairly high bogan population, but overall I think the area is good and safe.
