Puppy + cages FTW!
If they're used to being confined, they don't stress in the oven, they're not all tense and the meat is more tender.

actually keeping the dogs confined or attempting to is probably a good idea, responsible even as while they are in there they cant cause mischief elsewhere
im sure their local rangers would rather them be caged then escaping the yard and roaming
