"Once you can have people more frightened of disorder than tyranny, it enables you to do almost anything you like so far as legislation is concerned." Chief Judge Antoinette Kennedy, 26/3/2010.
"The State must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf

nothing wrong with compulsory pineapple.
ill take that as a win
Bring on the NBN, my broadband sucks, I check the "Halo Reach" net stats for online play on the Xbox 360, its a big RED for upload speed and it is as fast as my phoneline can deliver..
Meh.
From what I've seen of the plans, it is only moderately fast (max speed 10x slower than what Hong Kong have, already, today - un-capped - vs the 200gig quota we're presented with) and no cheaper than what we can already get through iinet or whoever.
stuff

don't hold your breath on the NBN, it's going to take years before you see this in any areas on-mass, they don't have a clue what they are doing yet and it's a bit of a cluster-fuck with their infrastructure planning at the moment
the most common statement coming from the design office is "oh really? we didn't know that"
I guess it will be a long slow learing curve for them, it is after all just a politition's "hey maybe we can create Telecom all over again" pipedream
They already have the cabling done. My next door neighbour ran them years ago for telstra. Then the government bought them off telstra and now they're doing nothing. All they need to do is connect them up to "exchanges".
Oh it's cool everyone, Brendonv's neighbour got dis. It's already done, call off the project!!
