For that night where you talked me around, with words of wisdom beyond your age. For the hugs that I never had to ask for. For the awesome rides and that feeling of freedom, laughter and excitement riding with you. For that huge smile and gorgeous eyes. For the passion that you brought to everything. For the memories that will stay forever. For you, Ben. RIP.

You know that all my thoughts and love are with you and yours, Scara. You raised an amazing man.

We didn't know you but share in your loss.

As Nurse 40 said it is so wrong for parents to survive their child.

Our deepest condolences go to Ben's family and friends.

Cope with this just one day at a time.

Sorry to hear of your loss Ian. I never met Ben, but from the comments it's obvious he was a talented, well respected and much loved young man.

I hope that you find strength for the now and peace for the future.

touching enough to bring on some goosebumps, you and your wife have gone a long way to sorting out his unfinished business, I hope it puts his soul at peace.

Great job on the bike it's a fitting memorial.
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

Many months back I did see this thread.
I've just read it end to end.

I did not know Ben, but the name D'Artanagan is certainly familiar. As is the bike and the work out into it.

I can not express how sad I feel for your loss, but that bike, rebuilt, is more than a fitting tribute.

I never knew Ben, and I never knew of his passing until I saw the article in Sunday's paper; but I knew the bike straight away from the build thread on it. I remember being impressed and thinking how cool it was for a father to build such amazing matching bikes for him and his son: it was clear this was a special relationship. I remember reading a thread about them riding together and one of them being pulled over for allegedly speeding, and the other pulling up and "arguing the toss". Two musketeers indeed. I never met Ben, or Scara, but feel like I know them from what they shared of themselves on PSB. I was stunned when I saw the story.

I've only been a dad for a few months, but sometimes I find myself looking at my son and wondering what his life will have in store and what adventures we'll share. I find myself worrying about something happening to him, and he can't even crawl yet! I can only imagine what the pain of your loss must be like based on the helplessness I feel in those moments. Your son was clearly special to a lot of people, and I hope that brings you some pride and comfort. I've just read this thread through, and I don't usually respond to these sorts of threads (because really what can you say?) but you considered words moved me. I hope your pain fades with the passage of time but your fond memories never do.
