A bit over a year has gone by .

I sincerely hope that I cause no pain to family and friends, and I am in full respect of a bloke I never knew or had the pleasure to meet.

Just over a year ago , a bloke called Johnno [charonred] passed away after a heroic battle with cancer. He posted as often as he could , even whilst suffering the symptoms of Chemo.

He was very popular on PSB from what I saw ,and he fought a warriors battle to the end.

Rest in Peace mate, I did a ride in memory for you this winter up north , but my illness made it a pretty short one.

For those who haven't seen his thread , I will paste the link to show everyone what tough really is.

    Indigestion and Oesophageal Cancer

Once again I mean no pain or disrespect to anyone , just a sign of admiration to a bloke who was lost far too early.

I hope that no one takes any ill feeling for me posting up the Memoriam, and I have nothing but sadness and best wishes for those left behind ....

    Ride

Wow just read the whole thread, so sad. RIP John.

ReCon, thanks for posting this up and also the link to the original thread from Johnno. It's the 1st time I've read his story and the admirable courage he had in his dealing with cancer.

It was a tough read as my wife is also stricken with this awful disease (bowel cancer) but she's going pretty well. She was 1st diagnosed just over 3 years ago where surgery was performed to remove most of her bowel and a strong recommendation to commence chemo straight after, a similar concoction to Johnno's. After we reviewed and researched it our decision was not to have chemo and go down the naturopath course instead. She went into SJOG back in April where tests were conducted and prognosis wasn't good. It had metastasised, deemed inoperable and the pseudo god in the white coat reckons 6-12 months tops - oh and nice of the prick to break this news to my wife while I wasn't there.

We now just try and stay as positive as we can and try to "live" each day as it comes - it ain't easy but you have to make the conscious decision each day when you wake up. I took up riding bikes again just late last year after a 20 year break just for some "me" time.

Thanks again for posting up this Memoriam. RIP Johnno.

Read this thread today, we have a close friend just underwent a double mastectomy, it has spread and she has a hysterectomy scheduled for wednesday and has just found a lump under her arm.
Still has a positive outlook. The courage of some people astounds me.

not much else you can do, if you start being negative you might as well lie down and wait.

i hope she has a better outcome, it's sad to hear of anyone dealing with these kinds of health problems when they have so much to live for.
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

I too read the thread. Very touched by his story. Thank you Johnno, for sharing your story and opening our eyes to go with our gut, when we know something is wrong with us.
    RIP mate xx
