EJ84 - Evan 12 Months Today (Welshpool Rd)

It was 12 months today that Evan lost his fight for life. Looking back so many of you were apart of his battle. I would like this moment not only for us to remember EJ and what happened to him so we can be more vigelant on the roads, but also to thank all of your well wishes and support during this tragic time. A special thank you to all that attended his memorial ride and have shown support over the past 12 months.

    Evan, gone but not forgotten.

I still fondly recall the short time I spent with Evan every time I go through there.

What I saw at the scene isn't something I'm going to forget any time soon. The bike was stuck upright in the side of the ute. The police looked very sombre. I knew it wasn't looking good. He didn't go without a fight.

We were very proud to be part of his memorial ride.
I wish you and Evan's loved ones our deepest sympathies.

    Rest In Peace EJ

As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.

It was my first memorial ride, and although sad, it was an honour to be part of it... purely because I know that I, and many others share the same passion that Evan had. I will never forget riding through the tunnel with the hearse in front while we all did what Evan was likely to have done through the tunnel - sit in a low gear and accelerate; hard.

RIP Evan, and I hope the tunnels forever echo and the twisty roads are free flowing xx.

I too was at the accident, the police report came back and Evan impacted at between 20 to 25 K's he thought he would be able to stop in time they said only another metre and he would have probably done so. I never saw the bike in the side of the ute, the front twisted and the hadle bars seperated from the bike, believe it or not but the bike was not that bad off, it is currently being re built. Unfortunately the way he impacted and fell caused the extensive head injuries. It was just such a tragic accident for such a tallented safe rider.
