Final words after the funneral (Leif Smart - Dragon)

Firstly a big thanks to the great turnout we had from the community. It was great to see everyone gettting together even if it had to be this way.

Thankyou to Leifs family for letting us be apart of celebrating leifs life. Was great to see that all the support of the members of the forum had really touched his parents and other family. I heard his dad talkin to Campo and was really glad to see just how many ppl were touched by Leif. Thanks to Gordo, chookie and Deej for organizing the ride and for everybody who made a huge effort to make it.
Was good to see some ppl i havnt seen in a while (in person), Shox, Em, Dave, Keez and Max to name a few.

Great to see just how strong the support is in the PSB community.

    RIP DRAGON.
    Love
    Nick

I was seriously blown away by the great turnout from everyone in the PSB community. Leif would've been in awe seeing us all there. It just confirms again how strong we are as a community and how close everyone really is. I'm really, really proud to be a part of what we have here.

Leif's Dad, Roger Smart, said to me that when he saw the turnout of PSB members he felt so much at ease knowing that Leif had a strong bond with many of us and that he was really part of something so special.

The service was really nice, saying goodbye to Dragon was really hard.

I just want to thank the Smart family for also letting us say goodbye, it was an honour to be there.

May the spirit of the Dragon live long, live strong.

Thanks to all who came, and I know those who couldn't make it were there in spirit.

Thanks to the Smart family for allowing us to be in the procession and attend the service, and especially allowing six members to contribute - that was beautiful.

Thanks to everyone who shared their tears, hugs, shoulders to cry on, and sharing the adventures they had with Leif.

    Thanks...

Thankyou to everyone for showing their support in the ride, it was much appreciated by his family and I think Leif would have been moved to see the support from the community.

To his family, we are overjoyed that you allowed us to be a part of the ceremony and completely honored to have followed the cortege. I think the whole community is blown away by the sentiment given, allowing 6 roses to be placed on Leif's coffin, I know I certainly was!

I will not give names as there are too many to list, but thankyou to everyone who helped to make this the special day that Leif deserved. It was certainly a day that I will never forget!
Right now Im having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think Ive forgotten this before.

It was excellent to see everyone there. The ceremony was very mooving and powerful. By the turnout it was easy to se how much dragon was loved, and will be missed by everyone who met him.

On behalf of all of us, I sent this email to Leif's father this morning:

On behalf of the PerthStreetBikes Community I wish to pass on our sincere gratitude for allowing us to honour the life of Leif yesterday and inviting us to a part of his funeral.

Leif had many close friends within the community and yesterdays events has helped them cope with their grief as in turn we hope it also helps you and your family with yours.

You said to me yesterday that you had been troubled in the thought that Leif had lived an unhappy life. If I can provide you with this small comfort.… whenever we saw, hung and rode with Leif he always had a smile on his face, was always happy, always cracking jokes and only ever talk of good things.

Thank you again for your courtesy and respect. We can all now see why Leif was able to gain the respect of so many.

    Deej & Everyone from PerthStreetBikes.com

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

Its a shame that more ppl wont have the chance to meet a man who was able to touch so many ppl as Leif had.

Well done Nick for posting this thread giving us a sort of closure on the recent events although the memories will go on forever.

Thanks Deej for relaying our sentiments to the Smart family.
Thanks Campo for being a shoulder to cry on when I was a bubbling wreck.
Thanks to everyone who help with our plans and to the PSB riders who were all well behaved during such an emotional ride.

And massive thanks to The Smart family for allowing us to so involved in Leif's final ride with us and Maree for allowing us to attend her wake.

In closing I would like say that it was a great privillige to be able to help regarding the organisation of the ride and to attend the celebration of a great guy's life.

Goodbye for now Leif,Untill we meet again somewhere someday.

I think almost everything that could possibly be said in here already has.

Massive respect to the smart family for allowing us to attend the service. The allowing of the 6 roses to be placed on leifs casket really blew me away. It gave me alot of closure and a final goodbye i didnt think i was going to get the chance to say.

For the above I thank the smart family from the very bottom of my heart and i hope you find whatever it is that gets you through the times ahead. We also will be looking for that same thing.

Big thanks to chookie for keeping us all informed as to what was going on and arranging all of this.

Leif may your spirit ride with us until it is our time to join you. Be at peace my friend.

I'm the noob you all pwn!

Hi everyone, Maree here. I wanted to say it was very nice meeting some of the people Leif talked about over the 18 months or so. It was obvious you all thought a lot of him and he would have loved the turnout at my house.

Times will be hard for all of us and it is great you all have the support of eachother. Look after my friend Chookie.

To the Smart family, thank you for your support to me. It was more than I ever could have expected in such terrible times.

Leif will always remain loved and with us all.

    Hi Maree,

    Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for allowing all of us to attend your wake, It was good to have somewhere to go and reflect. Sharing some more of Leif's life experiences allows us to feel closer to him.
Most of us only knew him through riding but it's good to be able to touch on the other side of him too.

Chookie will always have friends in the forum so he will be ok, Also feel free to organise with him or through here a chance to come out with the riders sometime if you like. There will always be a seat somewhere I'm sure, or see Chookie about the regular gatherings at the pub in Northbridge.

( I'm sure on behalf of all the PSB members this sentiment would be extended to everyone who new Leif )
