Unfortunatly Dave Owen passed away while making a record attempt for the standing mile at Maxton, the only details surrounding the accident are below
Dave you have been the inspiration for my bike build, had it not been for your vast experience and knowledge i don't think i would have made it this far. Your contributions to land speed racing will be sadly missed and the sport would not be where it is today without you.All we can tell you now is that DaveO went thru the traps at 216mph, his head was down as he did. He never raised his head again and went left after the finish line. Bike in pieces, Dave went instantly. Massive injuries. His bike is in impound with ECTA officials and under accident investigation by the best, Scott Guthrie.
I am still in shock, RIP Dave Owen
