I had the sad honour to participate in the Ramp Ceremony for LCPL Jason Marks today as he left the Middle East to go home.

RIP fellow digger.

He died doing the job he loved and protecting what we take for granted.

A true Hero has fallen.

A sad loss indeed, my thoughts are with LCpl Marks' family and his mates still serving.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. It is a harsh price to pay.

It must be very difficult for his family at this time, the risks are known, but every family with a serving member prays that this will never happen to them.
