air con install/replacements cost bulk $$$ sparkys rape ur wallet hard

if u know what parts u need ur better of going to a wrecker or quokka and sourcing th parts installing ur self.

then hitting up a regasing joint

from memory new compressors costs the high side of 1k+

prolly get one from quokka for 50 bucks if ur lucky

I pity the fool who pays that much for a new compressor
$150-300max through cov's or lyons depending on type and whether you need a new clutch as well.

J, no offence to autobahn mate as the mechanic there may know air con systems inside out, but more than likely the guy probably doesn't know much other than how to regas a system.

When was the last time the aircon was serviced on either vehicle?
My advice is take both to an auto electrician and get them to quote on both vehicles.

I recommend Russ Gracie auto electrics in Bayswater, they are honest and do a spot on job.

With the mazda be prepared for the extra cost of changing over from r12 to r134a gas.
Cost me $300 to do this on my truck. For a simple regas and leak check on a r134a compatible vehicle you shouldn't have to pay more than $150.

    Good luck mate

Auto Air Con, Dats my business.

Be carefull of where you get your quotes.
Got to an A/C specialist, someone that works 24/7 on A/C. AS far as auto sparks, A/C is a secondary field, and the majority, have no idea about a/c. (would you take your prized petrol car to a diesel fitter, for a tune up).

A/C can be expensive depending on compressors, most costing between $475 - $750.
Sucka you are a bit out with your comp prices, that is what you would normally pay for a 2nd hand one.
But you are in the field with your others.

If ya want info, PM me with :-

    Make
    Model
    Year

If you are after system installation costs add

    Motor
    Pet /Dsl
    Power / Std Steer
    Carby / EFI
    Man / Auto

I started this business 12 years ago, and have not advertised for 8, BUSY OH YEH.
Work on, cars , trucks, limos, locomotives, aircraft, yes (even one with a big search light and infra red), boats.

    Cheers

Yeah could be. I've only bought a few from cov's and one from lyons. And we had a big discount on both accounts, so list price could be a bit higher.

I have sourced a picture of an alternative air con model to suit your vehicle. Might even work out substantially cheaper.
