Hi all,

The builders have finally finished building my house now I need to get a pinter to paint the insides.

Doors and ceilings are done just need the walls painted. Happy to pay a fair price (cash) for a good job just want someone I can trust to do a good job. House is completely empty, no floor coverings or furniture so nothing to cover or move!

Cheers,
Ells

Make sure that you get all the walls (assuming you have plaster over brick) sealed with an oil-based undercoat.

The stuff stinks, but it is the only sure way of ensuring that your paint will actually STICK to the wall for longer than a couple of years (or kids if you are planning any).

It should only add a couple of hundred and a day to your job though.

How much you willing to pay? Maybe a PSB painting day......

Have tried Ozy already but he's too busy.

As for PSB painting day, thanks but I want this done properly (and without 50L of paint splashed around as everyone decides to have a paint fight and splatter cupboards, ceiling etc). Happy to pay a fair price but want it done by someone who does this for a living.

House warming - have to get it finished first !!!

Thanks for suggestions though, keep em coming.

Ells

It may just be a rumour but I have heard that you should let the house settle for a month or two before painting to see if any of the walls are cracking due to the pad settling and brickwork shifting. i've never had to paint a new house si it may just be a rumour but worth a thought.

Have you ever considered doing it yourself? It's not that hard, you'll learn something new and save yourself a ton of cash.
