    Wanted: Sandblasting and painting

I built all the racks I need for the Tenere for fuel, panniers etc and I need them sandblasting and painting. I have modified the old ones and they look like they had been painted with a brush more than once.

If anyone can do this for a carton or something It would be muchly appreciated.

Lol - sorted. Went fine on the paint, but...

Potatoe - do you know if the K&S chem stripper will work on powdercoat?

Coz my pissy little garnet blaster wasn't touching it.

    Yes, Ramrod.

    Yes, we are.

But, if it makes you feel better:
I've now taken 20 hours off work to try and get my bikes on the road. It's saved me around $1200.

But my hourly rate is somewhat higher than a bike mechanic's.

So it's actually COST me around $400 plus the tools and the pain. And the bike ain't back together yet.

Same thing - you balk at an initial price which seems a little steep, spend days and $$$ to do it cheap and it ends up costing you more anyway.

I had no dramas with you giving it a crack on my setup or I wouldn't have offered.

But while it's got the worst of the crap off, the quality of the blast will NEVER give you a pretty paint job.

Still, it was worth a try!

that stuff they put on those racks is tuff as nails but when it starts breaking away its a bitch to remove.
get that blaster on it bro and drop it up !

least that way with all the old crap gone you know it will last a bit longer for you.

by the way, that looks like a top notch job you've done making the rack

if your still looking to get it sand blasted PM me, we have a sandblaster at work, he has set himself up in our back factory and is a reasonable guy
wont work for beer but is real cheap on the money front, powder coating can be taken care of as we have a contractor working out of Ozzy Park, and my sons push bike frame is being dipped in black powder coat next weekend if that on your time line.

Managing a company in the steel industry has its advantages sometimes.

Blasters charge more for stripping powdercoat because it takes a lot longer to get it off.

Dpending what your stripping, the best and cheapest way to remove existing powdercoat is to burn it before sending it to the blaster.

That's how the speedway boys do their chassis on the speedway cars. Tis a great bonfire burning a chassis.
